Fluid transfer devices and methods of use

Some embodiments disclosed herein related to a device for transferring precise amounts of fluid from at least one source container to a at least one target container. In some embodiments, the fluid is first transferred from the source container (e.g., a vial) through a connector to an intermediate measuring container (e.g., a syringe). In some embodiments air can pass through an air inlet and enter the vial to compensate for the volume of fluid withdrawn from the vial. An air check valve or a bag or a filter can prevent the fluid from escaping through the air inlet. The precisely measured amount of fluid can then be transferred from the intermediate measuring container to the target container (e.g., an IV bag). In some embodiments the connector can include a source check valve and a target check valve to direct fluid first from the source container to the intermediate measuring container and then from the intermediate measuring container to the target container. Some embodiments of the device can include a motor and a controller for automatically actuating a plunger of the syringe to transfer the desired amount of fluid.

Structural walls

A plurality of studs (14) are spaced apart relative to each other. Upper end portions (32) of the studs fit into an upper channel space (22) and lower end portions (34) fit into a lower channel space (30). The lower channel space (30) is defined in part by a pair of spaced apart sidewalls (24, 26). Screw fasteners (52) extend through the sidewalls (24, 26) and connect them to the lower end portion (34) of the stud (14). The studs (14) have upper ends that are spaced from a web (20) forming the upper boundary of the upper channel space (22). Vertical elongated slots (48, 50) are provided in the sidewalls (38, 40) of the studs (14). Screw fasteners extend through the sidewalls (16, 18) of the upper channel member (10) and then extend into and through the slots (48, 50). The heads of the screw fasteners (52) bear against the sidewalls (16, 18) when the screw fasteners (52) are tightened. This firmly connects the screw fasteners (52) to the sidewalls (16, 18), but there is no connection of the screw fasteners (52) to the upper end portions of the studs (14). When the screw fasteners (52) are tightened, there is no clamping action between the heads (54) of the screw fasteners (52) and the upper end portions (32) of the studs (14). As a result, the studs (14) are completely free to move up and down relative to the upper channel member (10), within limits established by the lengths of the slots (48, 50).

Universal sliding rail assembly for rack mounting computers

A sliding rail assembly adjusts and adapts to fit various racks. An adjustable mounting flange on an end of the rail assembly translates along the axis of the rail so that the length of the rail assembly adjusts to fit racks having various depths. Hooks on the rail assembly may be used to hang the rail assembly on the rack while the rail assembly is being installed therein. The hooks are removable so that the rail assembly will fit racks having narrow widths. Mounting adapters enable the mounting flanges to mate with corner posts having round holes as well as those having square holes. Securing tabs engage front corner posts of the rack to prevent the rail and the computer enclosure from sliding out. To accommodate racks having various depths, the securing tabs may be mounted at more than one location on the side of the computer enclosure.

CAM type hub and strut for use in portable and semi-permanent structures

A cam style hub and strut system for use in single panel fabric, cloth, or plastic units, or structures with an unlimited number of wall and / or roof panels. The purpose of the cam style hub is to compensate for certain fabric characteristics and to allow easier setup of structures containing flexible or rigid support struts connected to a central hub by lessening the distance of the diametrically opposing struts during assembly, and applying the force necessary to engage the self-supporting structure by engaging the cam, increasing the distance between the ends of the opposing struts. The amount the distance is increased can be dictated by materials used and the size of the panel. The hub may contain an optional "locking" feature activated when the hub cam is engaged for convenience and safety reasons. The principle can be used with any number of struts greater than one.

O-ring-less low profile fittings and fitting assemblies

Embodiments of the invention provide new fittings and fitting assemblies for tight, leak-proof filter and fluid connections in a pump useful in dispensing fluid onto wafers during a semiconductor manufacturing process. One embodiment of a fitting assembly comprises an o-ring-less low profile fitting and a low profile male threaded locking nut. A manifold of the pump is machined with a female threaded hole for receiving the fitting and the locking nut. The fitting has higher compressibility than the manifold. Initially, as one end of the fitting touches the bottom of the receiving hole, there is a small gap between the end of the fitting and the bottom of the receiving hole. As the fitting is pressed down, the end of the fitting that touches the bottom of the receiving hole begins to deform and fill the small gap, thus creating a tight seal between the fitting and the manifold.

System for uniform dispersal of agricultural chemicals

A system for uniformly dispensing agricultural chemicals in soil comprises a holding reservoir for the liquid agrichemicals, at least one multi-port uniform dispersing manifold or splitter, and a number of dispensing delivery tubes for dispensing the chemicals proximate openings or slits in the soil during various functions such as planting. The liquid agricultural chemicals, within the system, flow, under pressure, from the reservoir to the exit orifice of each delivery conduit. The multi-port, uniform liquid dispersing manifold passively equally and uniformly, divides the incoming fluid stream to provide separate, but substantially equal, divided fluid streams exiting the manifold to individual delivery conduits. The fluid stream flowing through the fluid inlet of the manifold, under pressure, impinges a planar surface, disposed at one end of the manifold inlet, substantially perpendicular to the fluid flow and proximate the manifold exits, such that the fluid stream is radially dispersed and uniformly divided among the exit ports of the manifold. Advantageously, the fluid exit ports which are radially disposed about the fluid inlet have a longitudinal axis substantially perpendicular to the fluid flow in the fluid inlet causing the direction of the exit a flow to be substantially perpendicular to the fluid flow in the fluid inlet.

Joining structure

The present invention provides a joining structure capable of greatly improving the proof stress and the fatigue property by alleviating the stress concentration and residual stress caused by welding heat at one or both ends of a tabular member. In the present invention, one or both ends 4 of a tabular member 3 such as a reinforcing rib, fixed to the surface of a structural member 1 in the direction of the principal stress of the structural member 1 so as to protrude in the shape of T, is / are bent in a direction deviating from the direction of the principal stress and, by this, the rigidity at the end(s) 4 of the tabular member 3 decreases and the stress concentration is alleviated. It is preferable to bend one or both ends of a tabular member 3 in the shape of an gradual curve and to the extent that each bent end is formed at a right angle to the direction of the principal stress. The tabular member may have the shape of a flat plate, or it may be bent so that it has the shape of U or V as a whole. Further, the tabular member may be welded to a structural member or formed as an integral part of a structural member.
