The computing device generates a control signal to adjust the fuel control valve based on a governor sensed variable indicative of engine speed, sensed engine torque, a governor output signal from the governor indicative of an opening position of the throttle valve wherein 100% corresponds to a wide open throttle position, and 0% corresponds to a closed position, and a lean combustion control map containing predetermined set point values stored in memory. During operation, the control valve is responsive to the control signal generated by the computing device for adjustment of a fuel flow therethrough so as to obtain a ratio of air to fuel provided to the engine that is substantially at a lean misfire limit of the engine, thereby reducing fuel consumption, NOx emissions, and reducing exhaust gas temperatures. An electronically controlled electrical power generator comprises a generator (15) driven by a heat engine (11), operated by control means (19), and carrying an electrical load (22). Operation of the heat engine (11) is at wide open throttle. Power output apparatus and method of controlling the same

In a power output apparatus of the present invention, a control unit sets a WOT (wide open throttle) line L2, where the maximum torque of an engine attains, as a boundary between an over drive area and an under drive area in the case where a rotor shaft of an assist motor is set in a state of over drive linkage. The control unit determines a target working point of an outer rotor shaft of a clutch motor, which functions as a drive shaft, based on an externally required output, and selects the WOT line L2 as a performance line of the engine in the case where the target working point of the outer rotor shaft is present in the under drive area. The control unit then sets a switching instruction flag, in order to change the state of linkage of the rotor shaft of the assist motor from the state of over drive linkage to a state of under drive linkage. This arrangement of the invention reduces the maximum load capacity of the assist motor and decreases the maximum electric current of an inverter circuit for driving the assist motor.

Based on the corrected maximum torque set value, both the relation between the degree of accelerator opening and target torque and the relation between the target torque (target air volume) and the degree target throttle opening are corrected. Thus, even when various types of disturbances relating to torque error are generated, such as variations in air density generated in association with variations in temperature or altitude, variations over time such as contaminations of throttle chambers, or difference between machines such as engine bodies or auxiliary machines, it is possible to generate actual torque with respect to a target torque with a high degree of accuracy, while maintaining a desired relation between the degree of accelerator opening and the throttle opening.

Barometric pressure is determined in a hybrid electric vehicle from manifold absolute pressure. During engine operation, wide open throttle is commanded and output torque disturbances are offset by the electric machine. Barometric pressure is estimated based on sensed intake manifold pressure and engine speed dependent pressure offsets. During engine shut down, barometric pressure may be determined from manifold pressure without any offset adjustments.

Carburetor throttle control detent mechanism

A carburetor having a throttle valve co-rotatable with a small diameter throttle shaft having a free end protruding from an exterior side surface of the associated carburetor body. A throttle lever detent arm is co-rotatable on and with the throttle shaft free end adjacent each body surface. Interengageable detents on the detent arm and body surface are spaced radially away from the throttle shaft rotational axis by a distance, for example, of about three times the shaft diameter. The arm and body detents are releasably engageable with one another for thereby yieldably holding the detent arm and hence the throttle shaft and associated throttle valve in any one of a plurality of selected angular settings. Hence, the angular tolerance variation on the set positions of the throttle valve blade as controlled by the detents is now, for example, approximately three times more precise so that the tolerance limits for such positions are now rendered three times tighter than otherwise would be possible when utilizing the prior art. Hence manufacturing tolerances do not need to be tightened up in order to achieve the exemplary three-fold improvement in operational tolerances of the carburetor throttle control detent mechanism. The invention thus provides a low cost throttle control detent mechanism that enables fine increment, positive stops at predetermined valve blade settings, such as the W.O.T. (wide-open throttle), idle and closed valve positions.

A device for controlling a choke valve of a carburetor for an engine, includes a choke closed state hold device for holding, in a closing position, a choke lever connected to the choke valve of a carburetor and urged by a spring in a direction for opening the choke valve, when the choke lever is turned to the closing position, the choke closed state hold device releasing the choke lever from the held state by a throttle operation of the carburetor after a start of the engine. The choke closed state hold device includes a lock arm provided continuously with a throttle lever and a locked arm provided continuously with the choke lever, the lock arm and the locked arm elastically surmounting each other when the choke lever is turned to the closing position in a state where the throttle lever is in the opening position corresponding to a full open position of the throttle valve, so that the lock arm prevents the locked arm from turning back. Thus, the choke closed state hold device is constituted only by the lock arm and the locked arm respectively provided continuously with the throttle lever and the choke lever, and there is no need for a lock lever specially supported axially on the carburetor as in the conventional arrangement. Therefore, the number of components is reduced, and the construction is simplified, so that the manufacturing cost of the choke valve control device can be reduced.

The engine control system comprises a first module and a second module, wherein the first module is a working condition state monitoring module based on position signals of an accelerator pedal and is used for judging whether the engine is in an urgent acceleration condition or not, the second module is used for adopting a transient open-loop control strategy under the urgent acceleration condition or an EGR valve, VGT and throttle valve cooperative control strategy with the difference of the MAF target value and the measured value as the control input according to the judgment result of the working condition of the first module, wherein the transient open-loop control strategy can improve the air inlet system reaction speed and optimize the transient smoke exhausting, and according to the EGR valve, VGT and throttle valve cooperative control strategy, the EGR valve is taken as the principal thing, VGT flow area adjusting is taken as the secondary thing, throttle valve control is taken as the auxiliary thing, and an MAF is accurately controlled. By means of the method, the complete opening state of the throttle valve can be kept as much as possible, the throttling loss can be reduced, and the purposes of improving the fuel economy and reducing standardized workloads are achieved.

A method to control the full-behavior air-fuel ratio of the bimodal bursting petrol motor adopts different air-fuel ratio under the different combustion modes to control combustion: under the firing mode, the triple effect catalytic converter uses the theoretical air-fuel ratio to reduce the emission. Under the compression-ignition mode, use the lean-burn with the throttle fully opening to improve the fuel economy. In the transition zone of the two combustion modes, the throttle jaw opening is kept and the air-fuel ratio of the firing mode is little higher than the theoretical value. The laminar lean-burn is realized matching the injection strategies. The gas mixture under the compression-ignition mode is stronger than that under the firing mode with the same throttle jaw opening. The air-fuel ratio is closes to the theoretical value. This method can combine the advantages of the two combustion modes, avoid defects and realize stable combustion in the full-behavior range. Especially during the mode transmitting process, it can simplify the control strategies, improve the smoothness and avoid the abnormal combustion phenomenon of knocking and losing fire during this process.

This includes monitoring operator inputs to: an accelerator device, a braking device, and a cruise control device, and, monitoring throttle position control input from the electronic controller to the electronically controlled throttle mechanism. The electronically controlled throttle mechanism is commanded to a substantially wide-open throttle condition only when the monitored operator inputs to the accelerator device, the braking device, and the cruise control device are each at a null position. A further limitation on the wide-open throttle command includes monitoring other inputs from the electronic controller to the throttle mechanism.

An amount of the evaporative fuel / air mixture supplied to the intake passage is calculated, and the limit-processed intake air amount is corrected using the evaporative fuel / air mixture amount to calculate an intake gas amount. An exhaust gas recirculation ratio is calculated using the theoretical intake air amount and the intake gas amount.
