An exemplary embodiment of the invention relates to a method, system and storage medium for pre-screening customers for a credit card at a point of sale. The method includes receiving the customer data at a point of sale system and, during a check out process: transmitting the customer data to a server; searching a database for the customer data; and based upon results of the searching, performing a credit worthiness check and providing said customer with an invitation to open a charge account. If the customer accepts the invitation, a charge account is opened before a payment method is selected whereby the customer can place the items selected for purchase on the new charge account while at the point of sale system. The system includes at least one point of sale system coupled to a communications link; a server coupled to the point of sale system via the communications link; a data storage device in communication with the server; and a link to a credit information server.

The invention discloses a fast high-resolution SAR (synthetic aperture radar) image ship detection method based on feature fusion and clustering. The fast high-resolution SAR image ship detection method comprises the following steps: on the basis of the back scattering characteristics of each ground object and the prior information of a ship target in an SAR image, positioning a target potential position index map by an Otsu algorithm and range constraint; on the index map, pre-screening to obtain a detection binary segmentation map by a CFAR (constant false alarm rate) algorithm based on a local contrast; carrying out morphological processing to a detection result, and extracting a potential target slice from the SAR image and a detected binary segmentation map according to a processing result; and carrying out K-means clustering to the extracted slice by a designed identification feature to obtain a final identification result. According to the fast high-resolution SAR image ship detection method based on feature fusion and clustering, the data volume of a detection stage is effectively reduced by pre-processing, and point-to-point detection is not needed/the time of point-to-point detection is saved. Meanwhile, a target identification problem under the condition of insufficient training samples at present can be solved by the designed characteristic and a non-supervision clustering method, the target can be effectively positioned, and the size of the target can be estimated.

A compact scanning apparatus has an infrared laser adapted to emit light. The light is delivered as a beam by an optical system to illuminate an interrogation area on the surface of an object being scanned to cause selective desorption of molecules of the contraband substance, which are present on the surface, without substantially damaging the surface. A collection system collects at least a portion of the desorbed molecules. At least a portion of the collected molecules is thermally decomposed to form NO2 and transferred to a reaction cell containing an aqueous, alkaline, luminol-containing solution. The NO2 reacts with the luminol to produce light by chemiluminescence. A light detector registers the presence of this light to carry out a rapid screening of the object for the possible presence of the contraband substance. The apparatus further includes a supplemental detector such as a GC / IMS detector that is activated in response to the detection of the chemiluminescent light. The supplemental detector provides confirmation of the detection of contraband substance and activates a signaling device to provide an audible or visible alarm. The rapid pre-screening permits the apparatus to identify suspicious items, while the supplemental detection system can be optimized for more intense, but time-consuming scrutiny of just the suspicious items. Both effective detection and high throughput are thereby achieved in an accurate, reliable manner.

The method comprises the following steps: based on identity and behavior information of users, obtaining input variables of a prediction model; determining that variables used for determining whether the users invite friends to finish registration are output variables of the prediction model; obtaining a training set and a verification set; pre-screening the input variables; training the prediction mode; based on the prediction model, predicting a probability that users of the verification set invite their friends to finish the registration, and based on user actual performance, optimizing the model; and based on the optimized prediction model, predicting a probability that users of a test set invite their friends to finish the registration. By use of the method and apparatus provided by the invention, the financing platform can predict in advance the probability that the users invite their friends to finish the registration so as to relevantly encourage the friend invitation behaviors of the users, the response rate of encouragement activities is improved, while a user registration amount is increased, the marketing cost is reduced, and accurate marketing is realized.

Techniques are described for targeting customers with offers for pre-approved credit. The techniques can be employed while the customer is engaged in a business transaction at a merchant's point-of-sale by pre-screening for creditworthiness using basic customer information known to the merchant. The pre-screening can be performed on behalf of a single lender or in a cascading fashion on behalf of multiple lenders should the customer fail initial pre-screens. Additionally, techniques are described for using a cascading approach on customer-initiated credit applications, such that an applicant declined credit from one lender is automatically considered for credit from another lender via an arrangement between the lenders.

Method of calibrating a system for detecting contact of a glide head with a recording media surface

A method and apparatus for calibrating a glide head and detector system performs a pre-screening to ensure the quality of the glide head and the piezoelectric sensor in the detection system. The glide head and the piezoelectric sensor detect a signal when the glide head makes contact with the disk, such as a magnetic recording disk. Calibration of the detection system utilizes a specially made bump disk that has asperities of desired height and size that protrude out of a flat disk surface. The glide head is flown over the bump disk, and by gradually reducing the disk spinning velocity, the head is brought closer to the disk and eventually into contact with the asperity. The onset of contact, as detected by the piezoelectric sensor, defines a disk spinning velocity for the head to fly at the desired height. In order to decouple the glide head flying characteristics and the piezoelectric quality and transfer function from other factors that affect the calibration of the detection system, laser pulses are directed at the glide head. Head vibrations are introduced in the glide head and detected by the piezoelectric sensor. The head excitations are recorded as a spectrogram in which the resonance frequencies are observed. From the amplitude and frequency readings, head resonance frequencies are identified and the piezoelectric sensor response is characterized. This allows the pre-screening of the head / sensor system and the decoupling of the glide head flying characteristics and the piezoelectric sensor quality from the asperity integrity effects on the calibration of the detection system.
