An LCD projector is a type of video projector for displaying video, images or computer data on a screen or other flat surface. It is a modern equivalent of the slide projector or overhead projector. To display images, LCD (liquid-crystal display) projectors typically send light from a metal-halide lamp through a prism or series of dichroic filters that separates light to three polysilicon panels – one each for the red, green and blue components of the video signal. As polarized light passes through the panels (combination of polarizer, LCD panel and analyzer), individual pixels can be opened to allow light to pass or closed to block the light. The combination of open and closed pixels can produce a wide range of colors and shades in the projected image.

Projection type image display system, projector, program, information storage medium and image projection method capable of avoiding obstacles in the projection area

To provide a projection type image display system, projector, program, information storage medium and image projection method which can project an image applicable to viewing environment of a changed projection position, a liquid crystal projector is provided with: a sensor for sensing a projection target area and outputting sensing information; an edge detection section for outputting detection information based on the sensing information; a projectable area determination section for determining a projectable area based on the detection information; a projection area selecting section for selecting a projection area from the projectable area; a sensing data generation section for generating sensing data applicable to viewing environment of the selected projection area, based on the sensing information of the selected projection area; an LUT data generation section for generating LUT data; a correction section for correcting image information based on the generated LUT data; and an image projection section for projecting an image onto the projection area based on the corrected image information.

Color polarizer with support for liquid crystal projector and color liquid crystal projector

The invention is to develop a color polarizing plate with a support, the polarizing plate having both good brightness and polarizing efficiency for a blue channel (for blue light). The color polarizing plate with a support for a liquid crystal projector comprises a polarizing plate containing a stilbene type water-soluble azo dye as a dichroic molecule and a support, wherein the polarizing plate has an average single transmittance of 39% or more and an average crossed transmittance of 0.4% or less at 420 to 500 nm and an average crossed transmittance of 4% or more at 50 to 780 nm.

Dye type polarizing plate

This invention relates to a polyvinyl alcohol type polarizing film or plate which comprises a water-soluble dye having the formula (1) in a free acid form or a copper complex salt thereof. The said polarizing plate has excellent polarizing performance capability and durability, and is suitably used for the green channel of a liquid crystal projector when B in formula (1) is a benzoylamino group and the water-soluble dye has a wave length for maximum absorption (λmax) of 520 nm or more and less than 580 nm.

Light-polarizing film

A light-polarizing film is provided which possesses a light transmittance of not more than 0.3% at wavelengths of from 430 nm to 500 nm inclusive when irradiated with a linearly polarized light with a vibration plane parallel to an absorption axis of said film, and a light transmittance of not less than 77% at wavelengths of from 430 nm to 500 nm inclusive when irradiated with a linearly polarized light with a vibration plane perpendicular to the absorption axis of said film. When a light-polarizing plate comprising the light-polarizing film is applied to the liquid crystal panel for blue of a liquid crystal projector, the obtained liquid crystal projector displays images featuring bright and natural color tones.
