Method and apparatus for functional architecture of voice-over-IP SIP network border element

In order to provide a single common cost-efficient architecture for real time communication services for audio, video, and data over internet protocol, a voice over internet protocol (VoIP) system and architecture is provided by placing border elements (BEs) at the interface boundaries between the access network the user devices use and the VoIP infrastructure. The BEs use SIP protocol as the access call control protocol over any access networking technologies, for example, IP, Ethernet, ATM, and FR, and provides all services transparently to the end users that use SIP-enabled devices. To enable a scalable system, the SIP BEs are decomposed into separate communicating entities that make the SIP BE scalable and provide new capabilities not previously available by a self-contained SIP BE. Further, multiple levels of decomposition of a SIP BE can be provided by the present invention supporting a flexible and scalable SIP BE design that further improves system efficiencies and cost advantages as compared to use of single integrated border or edge elements. Further, a scalable SIP BE, made up of a plurality of physical entities for optimization of a large scale design, acts as a single integrated functional entity to logically execute a set of functions at the border of a VoIP infrastructure.

Distance measuring system

A distance measuring device capable of being used in microscopes or other optical systems. Embodiments of the invention employ one or more scanning mirrors to scan a reference beam over a target to be inspected. The reference beam is returned and detected by a photodetector. The reference beam may be created by using a knife-edge element which allows the outgoing reference beam and incoming reference beam to follow the same path so that the apparent motion of the spot on the target surface is not detected by the photodetector. The photodetector generates an electronic signal corresponding to the displacement of the target away from the ideal focal point. The electrical signal may be used to drive a servomechanism to displace either the target or the microscope objective lens to bring the target in focus.

Cutting, jointing and tearing volumetric objects

A linked volumetric representation for graphical objects is presented together with techniques for physically-plausible modeling of object cutting, joining and tearing. In one embodiment, each element is may be explicitly linked to its six nearest neighbors by storing pointers to those neighbors in the element's data structure. The link between two elements can be cut when a graphical representation of cutting tool passes between the elements by setting the appropriate neighbor pointers in the two elements to point to NULL instead of to each other. If material limits in the link between two elements are exceeded during simulation of object deformation, the link can be torn apart by setting the appropriate neighbor pointers in the two elements to NULL. When a joining tool is applied to two volumetric objects in close proximity, edge elements in the two objects that have complimentary neighbors set to NULL can be joined by setting these missing neighbors to point to each other.

Complex planar element automatic edge connection method based on a picture grid indentation technology

The invention discloses a complex planar element automatic edge connection method based on a picture grid indentation technology. For the deviation of an operator in the operation process, an edge element to be spliced cannot be identified by a traditional edge splicing method. According to the method, automatic identification, automatic correction and edge splicing of the to-be-spliced edge elements are realized on the basis that intersection lines are extracted from the to-be-spliced edge element layers according to a spatial intersection relation after the planar image sheet grid data is subjected to inward shrinkage processing and converted into a line shape. According to the method, on the basis of making a vertical line at the center of an intersection line, spatial intersection relation selection is carried out on the intersection line and a to-be-spliced edge element layer to directly extract all to-be-spliced edge elements. Therefore, under the condition that deviation existsbetween the vector elements in the topographic map and the topographic map sheet grids, the elements needing edge connection can be obtained through the vertical lines of the intersection lines to besubjected to merging processing. Therefore, the deviation can be automatically corrected, and the edge connecting efficiency is higher and more accurate.

Element grouping method for finite element method analysis, and computer-readable storage medium

An element grouping method for Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis is implemented in a computer to group elements forming an analyzing mode. The method automatically obtains nodes of specific elements having a common parameter from the elements forming the analyzing model which is an analyzing target, and automatically groups nodes having a referring number which is a predetermined value or less. The specific elements belonging to the grouped nodes are automatically grouped as edge elements. A check is made to determine whether or not all specific elements in an edge portion of the analyzing model are grouped as the edge elements.
