Dual band, low profile omnidirectional antenna

A low-profile dual-band antenna includes a ground plane. An “E”-shaped metal plate is located a first distance from the ground plane and includes first and second outer extensions and an inner extension of the metal plate. A feed tab connects the inner extension and the ground plane. A shorting tab connects the inner extension and the ground plane. The low-profile dual-band antenna communicates first radio frequency (RF) signals in a first RF band and second RF signals in a second RF band. The first RF signals and the second RF signals are vertical polarized signals. F-inverted compact antenna for wireless sensor networks and manufacturing method

An F-inverted compact antenna for ultra-low volume Wireless Sensor Networks is developed with a volume of 0.024λ×0.06λ×0.076λ, ground plane included, where λ is a resonating frequency of the antenna. The radiation efficiency attained is 48.53% and the peak gain is −1.38 dB. The antenna is easily scaled to higher operating frequencies up to 2500 MHz bands with comparable performance. The antenna successfully transmits and receives signals with tolerable errors. It includes a standard PCB board with dielectric block thereon and helically contoured antenna wound from a copper wire attached to the dielectric block and oriented with the helix axis parallel to the PCB. The antenna demonstrates omnidirectional radiation patterns and is highly integratable with WSN, specifically in Smart Dust sensors. The antenna balances the trade offs between performance and overall size and may be manufactured with the use of milling technique and laser cutters.

Microstrip arrangement

The invention relates to a microstrip arrangement comprising a first and a second microstrip conductor. The two microstrip conductors have essentially the same dimensions in their longitudinal direction and transverse direction, and are galvanically interconnected by means of at least one connection. The two microstrip conductors also extend essentially parallel to one another on either side of a dielectric material. As a result of this design of the microstrip arrangement, the field losses and also other influences caused by the dielectric material will be very considerably reduced, and in practice a resultant microstrip arrangement is obtained, which, with regard to its electrical performance, appears to be suspended in the air. Preferred embodiments comprise a microstrip antenna, a circuit board and a conductor application.

A Circularly Polarized Antenna with Wide Beamwidth and Small Size

The invention discloses a circular polarized antenna with a wide wave beam width and a small size. The antenna comprises a square paster; two notch grooves of an open circuit of a terminal are arranged on the square paster, wherein the two notch grooves are mutually orthogonal; the paster is fixed on a square grounding reflecting surface by a coaxial line. And four short-circuit columns of the open circuit of the terminal are arranged on the reflecting surface, so that the size of the reflecting surface is reduced. According to the invention, a signal feeding technology is utilized to excite the two orthogonal notch grooves to work in a circular polarization mode. According to the invention, an impedance bandwidth reaches 19%, wherein a standing-wave ratio is less than 2; and a 3d axial ratio bandwidth reaches 3.8%. In an axial ratio bandwidth, a 3d B wave beam width reaches a value by adding 101.4 degrees with 1.4 degrees or subtracting the 1.4 degrees from the 101.4 degrees as well as a gain reaches a value by adding 5.76dBi with 0.18dBi or subtracting the 0.18dBi from the 5.76dBi. The circular polarized antenna has advantages of compact antenna dimension, light weight, low cost and easy manufacture. Especially, the circular polarized antenna has advantages of good impedance bandwidth, wide radiation wave beam, and high gain. Therefore, the circular polarized antenna can be widely applied to satellite communication and traffic navigation.

Omni-directional antenna system for wireless communication

A wireless device having an improved antenna system is disclosed comprising one or more antenna, preferably circularly polarized antenna, for transmitting or receiving a signal, and one or more floating ground planes, wherein the floating ground plane preferably is electrically isolated from and in sufficient proximity to the antenna so that it is inductively coupled to the antenna. The floating ground plane may comprise one or more of a strip, band, foil, plate, block, wire mesh, sheet or coating of conductive material and, for example, may be a relatively thin copper strip, band, foil or coating. The circularly polarized antenna, preferably comprises a flat planar shaped radiating element sized and configured to resonate at a predetermined, desired frequency, frequencies or band of frequencies, and a flat planar shaped antenna ground, both radiating element and antenna ground formed on the same printed circuit board. The radiating element is electrically isolated from the antenna ground but sufficiently close to resonate at the desired frequencies. Preferably the floating ground plane is larger than or more massive than the antenna ground, and preferably larger than or more massive than the radiating element. In a further embodiment the wireless device comprises a housing for interfacing with a user, the housing comprising a conductive contact exposed to the exterior of the housing and configured to be contacted by a user, wherein the conductive contact is electrically connected to the floating ground plane, preferably so that the user is coupled to the antenna and becomes part of the antenna system. The floating ground plane may also preferably be configured to substantially cover or overlap the antenna, and may also be configured to distribute and propagate the electromagnetic signals away from the head of the user.

A small antenna has two or more feeding ports. The invention provides a small multimode antenna capable of commonly using a single feeding point at a plurality of frequencies. The antenna includes a radiating conductor 1 disposed above a ground conductor 6 and distributed-constant circuits 2 and 3 coupled to the radiating conductor. Each of the distributed-constant circuits is constructed by a transmission line and has a branch. One end of the radiating conductor and one end of the distributed-constant circuit 2 are connected to each other to be a connection point and, further, the other end of the radiating conductor and one end of the distributed-constant circuit 3 are connected to each other. The connection point is a single feeding point 9 using the ground conductor as an earth. The distributed-constant circuits 2 and 3 are designed as an equivalent circuit in which different stubs are connected in parallel with a transmission line, and impedance matching at a plurality of frequencies is realized at the feeding point.
