Motor controller and electric power steering device

A microcomputer detects and determines whether a problem exists in a power supply breaker of an ECU functioning as a motor controller. Specifically, the microcomputer determines whether there is a malfunction caused by a short circuit in a first FET based on the output voltage and output voltage that are detected in a first FET and a second FET, respectively, when the switching states of the first and second FETs are both off. Afterwards, the microcomputer determines whether there is a malfunction caused by a break in the first FET based on the output voltages of the first and second FETs that are detected when only the first FET is switched on. If the microcomputer determines that the first FET is free from any malfunction, the microcomputer determines whether there is a malfunction caused by a short circuit or a break in the second FET by comparing the output voltage of the first FET and a charge voltage of a smoothing capacitor that are detected afterwards.

Image processing apparatus, image processing method, and storage medium

The objective of the present invention is to provide a simple and accurate process for extracting an object from an image, which is used to impose a great load for an operator. According to the present invention, an image processing apparatus comprises an object extracting unit, for performing a predetermined process for image data for a position or an area that is designated and for extracting a specific object from an image, an outline part deciding unit, for selecting and authenticating an arbitrary segment of an outline obtained by the extracting unit, and an outline synthesis unit, for linking and synthesizing together the outline segments that are authenticated. Since a closed curve is formed by synthesizing the outline segments obtained by repeating the above process, and the outline of the object is thus determined, the outline segment that is extracted from the image and matches the correct outline of the object is sequentially selected and authenticated. The thus authenticated outline segments are linked and synthesized to gradually form the overall outline of the object.

Simple Crest Factor reduction technique for multi-carrier signals

InactiveUS20050118966A1Improved power handlingBoost power handlingResonant long antennasMulti-frequency code systemsAudio power amplifierIntermediate frequency
A technique for Crest Factor reduction of multi-carrier signals is described. The input to the multi-carrier amplifier is modified by a Crest Factor reduction circuit, prior to being applied to the amplifier. The Crest Factor reduction circuit clips the amplitude of the signal, converts the clipped signal to baseband to produce the baseband representative of each carrier, filters each baseband representative to remove the unwanted signals, up converts each baseband representative to its multi-carrier baseband frequency and finally the up converted signals are combined to produce the multi-carrier baseband signal. The input to the Crest Factor reduction circuit could be a baseband, an intermediate frequency (IF) or radio frequency (RF) signal. The Crest Factor reduction could be performed in digital or analog domain.

Multiphase flowmeter using a combination of pressure differentials and ultrasound doppler readings

A multiphase flowmeter, and a method of analyzing and measuring multiphase flow is described. The body of the multiphase flowmeter consists of the following components. It has a straight flow pipe in which two orifice plates a lodged near the extremities. At each of these two locations, a pressure differential transmitter measures the pressure drop that occurs as the fluid passes through the orifice plates. Along the length between the orifice plates, an ultrasound Doppler sensor measures the volume flow rate of the multiphase fluid, a pressure transmitter measures the in-pipe pressure and a temperature sensor measures the temperature. From the signals obtained from the above sensors, an overall analysis of the multiphase fluid flow is performed providing a complete set of flow measurement data for the mixture and for each of the three phases consisting of oil, water and gas.
