The present invention is directed to self-healing materials and use thereof for extending the lifespan of a tire. The self-healing material includes a rubber healing agent, e.g., sulfur, encapsulated by a coating material, e.g., polypropylene, defining a microcapsule. The self-healing materials are processed with rubbery polymers to provide a rubber compound suitable for use in a tire. The microcapsule coating material is selected to prevent release of the healing agent during the processing steps of the rubber compound, such as can occur through melting or softening of the coating material, and to release the healing agent, e.g., via melting or softening, at a desired temperature greater than a tire's running temperature. Release of the healing agent can help repair damage to local polymeric structure, such as broken cross-links, by reacting with the surrounding rubber. In this way, that area of the rubber compound can be reinforced, thereby prolonging the life of the tire.

System for obtaining vehicular traffic flow data from a tire pressure monitoring system

An embedded Tire Pressure Monitoring sensor is incorporated into vehicular wheels and a secured central server is used to track the unique identification code of each sensor. The TPMS is installed by the vehicular manufacturer in accordance with the federally mandated TREAD Act of 2000. When a vehicle enters the radius of a first encrypted TPM sensor detection transceiver, its TPM sensor identification codes are recorded and time-stamped via an encrypted TPM sensor detection transceiver. If the vehicle enters the area of a second encrypted TPM sensor detection transceiver, the sensor codes will be recorded and time-stamped a second time, encrypted and sent to the secured central server. Using the two encrypted, time-stamped signals, the secured central server calculates traffic flow data.

Self-inflating tire valve

Small air pumping devices are mounted directly in the conventional tire valves to keep the vehicle's tires properly inflated without requiring the user's attention. If a tire is beginning to become under-inflated, a pumping piston having a single check valve is moved reciprocally in the tire valve stem by the cyclical deformation of the tire during the vehicle's travelling. The ambient air is pumped into the tires through the tire valves. The tire valves incorporating the pumping devices are kept using in a regular manner for reliably preventing air escaping from the tires and for inflating the tires from the external sources. Such “self-inflating” tire valves may be mounted as the regular tire valves both in new manufactured vehicles or in used vehicles without any modifications in the vehicle's axes, wheels or tires and without the necessity to make additional openings in the wheel.

Motor torque control method and wheel rim motor distributed drive system

The invention provides a motor torque control method and a wheel rim motor distributed drive system. The method is applied to a vehicle control unit in the system. The system further comprises two motor systems. The motor systems comprise motors. By means of the method, the following motor torque control process is executed to the motor systems at the same time. Based on current accelerator pedalsignals and the current rotating speeds of the motors in the motor systems, torque basic values of the motors in the motor systems are calculated; the torque basic values of the motors are corrected, and torque corrected values of the motors are obtained; the torque corrected values of the motors are limited through the current vehicle speed of a vehicle and the motor torque recently sent to the other motor system by the vehicle control unit historically, and torque limited values of the motors are obtained; the motor torque is determined from the torque limited values and the torque correctedvalues of the motors and input in the motor systems to which the motors belong, and therefore the motor systems are controlled to respond to the motor torque to control the motors in the motor systems to drive driving wheels, used for being driven by the motor systems, on the vehicle.

Airplane tire with air pocket

Disclosed is an airplane tire, and more particularly, is an airplane tire having air pockets, which can allow a tire wheel to rotate using the resistance of air depending on the speed of an airplane upon landing. The airplane tire can alleviate the landing shock of the tire and preventing wear and deformation of the tire by friction. In particular, the airplane tire can shorten a damping distance by virtue of an increased frictional force thereof when an airplane body stops using a tire wheel brake and achieve generation of a sufficient centrifugal force by rotation, thereby contributing to the safe flying of an airplane and the elimination of environmental pollution.
