Multiplier-based processor-in-memory architectures for image and graphics processing

A Procesor-In-Memory (PIM) includes a digital accelerator for image and graphics processing. The digital accelerator is based on an ALU having multipliers for processing combinations of bits smaller than those in the input data (e.g., 4×4 adders if the input data are 8-bit numbers). The ALU implements various arithmetic algorithms for addition, multiplication, and other operations. A secondary processing logic includes adders in series and parallel to permit vector operations as well as operations on longer scalars. A self-repairing ALU is also disclosed.

Living systems from cardboard packaging materials

Compositions, methods and business applications of using new and recycled cardboard infused with a plurality of saprophytic (including endophytic) and mycorrhizal fungi matched with seeds of plants (including trees, vegetables, herbs and grasses) whereby the cardboard can be sprouted by end-users to start ecosystems. Such containers may have carbon-credit value for companies and consumers when planted and grown as a carbon sink or carbon offset for the photosynthetic and mycelial sequestration of carbon dioxide. The relative weight of the Life Box's added seeds and spores does not significantly affect the total weight of the infused cardboard, thus not increasing transportation costs.

Mixer for use in wastewater treatment processes

A system and method of aerobic wastewater treatment provides large mixing bubbles along with small oxygenating bubbles supplied by diffusers. The mixing bubbles are large enough to move wastewater and generate a mixing current as they rise to the surface. The mixing current mixes the wastewater, bacteria and other microorganisms, and the small oxygenating bubbles from the diffusers to promote the bacteria and other microorganisms' conversion of the pollutants contained in the wastewater. The mixing provided by the large mixing bubbles enhances the efficiency of wastewater aeration provided by the small oxygenating bubbles.

Nickel-Based Reforming Catalysts

The present invention relates unique pore structures in nickel supported on alumina with the negligible formation of macropores. Incorporation of additional elements stabilizes the pore structure of the nickel supported on alumina. Additional element(s) were then further added into the nickel-supported materials. These additional element(s) further stabilize the pore structures under heating conditions. The improvements of pore structure stability under heating conditions and negligible presence of macropores limit the sintering of nickel metal to a mechanism of impeded diffusion. The negligible presence of macropores also limits the deposition of alkali metal hydroxide(s) / carbonate(s) on the outer shell of the catalyst pellet in the molten carbonate fuel cells. Both the negligible presence of macropores and improvement in pore structure stability allow for prolonging the catalyst life of these nickel supported on alumina catalysts of the present invention for reforming hydrocarbons.

Method and structure for forming relatively dense conductive layers

A region of high metal density may be placed in metal layers proximate to an area of low metal density below an inductor on an integrated circuit without violating manufacturing design rules for reducing manufacturing defects and without substantially impacting performance of the inductor. These results are achieved by including a transitional region that includes conductive structures electrically isolated from each other between the region of high metal density and the region of low metal density. The transitional region has a structure that allows a negligible amount of current flow to be induced in the structure.

Brazier grill and a brazier

The present invention relates to a brazier grill and a brazier with such grill used for cooking foodstuffs. Said brazier grill (2) is single layered and comprises grooved grill bars (4, 4', 4''), which are placed in parallel to each other and remove molten fats and cooking liquids emanating from foodstuffs placed thereon during grilling. Two such grooved grill bars (4, 4', 4'') are placed side by side in parallel with a b2 distance to form a grill grill opening (6) corresponding to 1 mm to 10 mm. This grill opening (6) is formed in a direction perpendicular (T) to the grill so as to allow heat rays emitted from an underneath heat source to pass directly (without encountering any obstructions) through such grill openings to reach a foodstuff on said grooved grill bars during grilling.

Perpendicular magnetic recording write head with enhancement capacitor on slider body for write current overshoot at write current switching

Write enhancement circuitry on the head carrier of a magnetic recording disk drive provides additional write current overshoot beyond that provided by the write driver circuitry. An enhancement capacitor is formed with a dielectric layer between two layers of electrically-conductive magnetically-permeable shield material that serve as the capacitor plates. The write enhancement circuitry may also include an enhancement resistor. The enhancement capacitor and resistor are connected between the two terminals on the head carrier that connect to the write head coil. The capacitor and resistor are fabricated on the head carrier at the same time and in the same process as the read head. The first and second capacitor plates are generally coplanar with and formed of the same electrically-conductive magnetically-permeable material that forms the first and second magnetic shields for the read head. The enhancement resistor is a stack of layers that is coplanar with and formed of the same materials as the stack of layers that form the sensor portion of the read head between the two magnetic shields.

Biosensor performance enhancement features and designs

Isolation of semiconductor based biosensors is described. The present invention is directed to prevention of undesirable influences including, but not limited to, chip leakage current. Several forms of sensor isolation and other protective means affect protection from adverse chip influences. The effect of biochemical attachment outside the sensor active region may have adverse effects on sensor performance. This potential problem is averted using protective design features.

Sliding and rotatable vented damper for the control of a fluid through a conduit

The invention provides an apparatus for adjusting the flow of a fluid within a conduit, comprising a slide plate with a flat body and a fixed plate with a flat body. The slide plate and fixed plate have openings on their bodies. At a fully closed position, the openings of the slide plate do not substantially overlap with the openings of the fixed plate. By rotation of an actuator shaft and drive pin disposed thereon, the slide plate may move relative to the fixed plate, whereby the openings of the slide plate begin overlapping with the opening of the fixed plate, thereby allowing flow of fluid through the openings. Sequentially or independently from the movement of the slide plate, rotation of the actuator shaft may cause the fixed plate to rotate relative to the walls of the conduit, whereby flow of fluid may pass through the opening between the conduit and fixed plate assembly.
