Fluidics system for sequential delivery of reagents

The invention provides a passive fluidics circuit for directing different fluids to a common volume, such as a reaction chamber or flow cell, without intermixing or cross contamination. The direction and rate of flow through junctions, nodes and passages of the fluidics circuit are controlled by the states of upstream valves (e.g. opened or closed), differential fluid pressures at circuit inlets or upstream reservoirs, flow path resistances, and the like. Free diffusion or leakage of fluids from unselected inlets into the common outlet or other inlets at junctions or nodes is prevented by the flow of the selected inlet fluid, a portion of which sweeps by the inlets of unselected fluids and exits the fluidics circuit by waste ports, thereby creating a barrier against undesired intermixing with the outlet flow through leakage or diffusion. The invention is particularly advantageous in apparatus for performing sensitive multistep reactions, such as pH-based DNA sequencing reactions.

System and method for physlological data readings, transmission and presentation

InactiveUS20080294020A1Facilitating reading and transmission and presentationEasy to wearLocal control/monitoringTelemedicineActivity levelBody area network
Systems, methods, and computer program products for facilitating the reading, transmission and presentation of physiological data within a wireless body area network are disclosed. The remote collection and monitoring of a person's (e.g., patient's) physiological data and activity levels for the purposes of determining the well-being of the person, as well as making additional health status determinations based on the historical information and trends of the collected data are provided. The systems, methods, and computer program products disclosed herein, in varying embodiments, readily lend themselves to incremental component and functionality modifications, which allow for increased sensor data sources, accuracy, reliability and utility of the collected information, further solidifying the uniqueness and desirability of the systems methods and computer program products.

Anthropomorphic phantoms and method

An anthropomorphic phantom used as a training tool by healthcare workers for learning ultrasonic imaging procedures. The phantom is made of a moldable, elastomeric tissue-simulating chemical composition that may be easily processed to create an anthropomorphic phantom: that has the “look and feel” and self-sealing characteristics of human tissue. During the mixing processes, scattering agents and pigments may be added to provide a phantom that simulates the sonographic characteristics on living tissue. The phantom body may contain objects and empty or liquid filled cavities and conduits that simulate normal internal structures and abnormal artifacts and conditions. In one embodiment, hollow rods are disposed longitudinally inside the primary mold that forms blood vessels inside the phantom. When the phantom is removed from the primary mold, the hollow rods are removed thereby forming a hollow conduit. Two plugs may be inserted into the ends of the conduit to hold a blood simulating liquid placed inside the conduit.

Agricultural motor vehicle

An agricultural motor vehicle designed to receive various agricultural implements, having a monoblock chassis assembled over 4×4 traction wheels, with a vibrating screen inside the lower portion of the chassis and a rotating cleaning set assembled lengthwise above the vibrating screen. The front section of the chassis has a concentrating guiding roller assembled crosswise upon it, with a hydraulic set for activation and transmission assembled above, the set serving as a support platform for a cockpit made accessible via a passageway and stairs. At the end of the rotating cleaning set is assembled a ventilation box with a motor power set is located on its rear side, and two pulling sets for residue outlet. A gutter for collecting clean grain is located at the end of the vibrating screen, the edges of the collecting gutter interconnected to cup elevators which lead into a dumper.

Adjustable v-cushion assembly for alleviating sitting discomfort

A V-shaped cushion assembly has two cushions that are connected to each other by a connector so as to form a V-shape. The cushions are pivotable relative to each other at the connector, so that an angle of the V-shape between the cushions can be selectively adjusted. By adjusting this angle and the placement of the V-shaped cushion assembly on a seating surface, the V-shaped cushion assembly provides a wide variety of user-configurable options in order to allow a user to select the configuration that is most comfortable to the user.
