A single frame format is employed by a millimeter wave communication system for single-carrier and OFDM signaling. A Golay-coded sequence in the start frame delimiter (SFD) field identifies the data transmission as single carrier or OFDM. Complementary Golay codes are employed in a channel estimation field to allow a perfect estimate of the multipath channel to be made. Marker codes generated from Golay codes are inserted periodically between slots for tracking and / or for reacquiring timing, frequency, and multipath channel estimates. At least one of the base stations is a mobile base station in which low and high speed wireless transceivers are mounted on a temporarily stationary mobile vehicle such as a truck trailer or a truck. The system includes at least one connecting station with a millimeter wave wireless transceiver in communication with a fiber optic or high-speed cable communication network. The transceiver is adapted to communicate at millimeter wave frequencies higher than 60 GHz with another millimeter wave transceiver at one of the cellular base stations. Each of the base stations serves a separate communication cell. Each base station is equipped with a low frequency wireless transceiver for communicating with the wireless users within the cell at a radio frequency lower than 6 GHz and a millimeter wave wireless transceiver operating at a millimeter wave frequency higher than 60 GHz for communicating with another millimeter wave transceiver at another base station or a millimeter wave transceiver at said at the connecting station. The base stations are also equipped with data transfer means for transferring data communicated through the low frequency wireless transceiver to the millimeter wave wireless transceiver and for transferring data communicated through the millimeter wave wireless transceiver to the low frequency wireless transceiver. Millimeter wave communications system with a high performance modulator circuit

A high data rate communication system operating at frequencies greater than 70 MHz and at data rates of about 1.25 Gbps or greater. Preferred embodiments include modulators with a resonant LC circuit including a diode which is back-biased for “off” (i.e., no transmit) and forward biased for “on” (or transmit). The modulator is a part of high performance transceivers for wireless, millimeter wave communications links. A preferred embodiment provides a communication link of more than eight miles which operates within the 71 to 76 GHz portion of the millimeter spectrum and provides data transmission rates of 1.25 Gbps with bit error rates of less than 10−10 . A first transceiver transmits at a first bandwidth and receives at a second bandwidth both within the above spectral range. A second transceiver transmits at the second bandwidth and receives at the first bandwidth. The transceivers are equipped with antennas providing beam divergence small enough to ensure efficient spatial and directional partitioning of the data channels so that an almost unlimited number of transceivers will be able to simultaneously use the same spectrum. In a preferred embodiment the first and second spectral ranges are 71.8+ / −0.63 GHz and 73.8+ / −0.63 GHz and the half power beam width is about 0.2 degrees or less. Preferably, a backup transceiver set is provided which would take over the link in the event of very bad weather conditions. In other embodiments especially useful for mobile applications at least one of the transceivers include a GPS locator.

The method comprises the step of when beam failure information sent by a user sideis received, sequentially switching a current beam pair to one beam pair in a specified beam pair set, until quality of service (QoS) of the switched beam pair is higher than a preset threshold, wherein the beam pair in the specified beam pair set is acquired by screening the beam pairs in a first area and the beam pairs in an adjacent area of the first area, and the first area is the area where the user side is located before beam failure. Beam recovery can be completed by only fewer times of switching when the current beam is sequentially switched to the beam pair in the specified beam pairset; compared with a traditional recovery method based on exhaustive search, the method provided by the invention is greatly reduced in recovery delay and resource overhead needed by beam recovery.

The system comprises the transmitting device and the receiving device. The wave beam alignment method, device and system can ensure continuity of a link between the transmitting device and the receiving device during wave beam direction scanning, meanwhile the total scanning times is decreased from N2 to 2N, and the time for establishing data transmission connection is greatly shortened.

A differential input control voltage is provided for a differential voltage-controlled oscillator through the charge pump, so that higher phase noise performance is achieved.
