System for creating personalized and customized mobile devices

The present invention provides a mobile device ecosystem that is simpler than existing options for all of its participants regardless of their role or business model. The ecosystem includes a mobile device and operating software development kit and store, both of which are implemented as web-based services such that creation, testing, and distribution of customized mobile devices, as well as discovery, investigation, and delivery of same, can all be performed using a standard web browser. The device development kit offers such capabilities as simply personalizing the exterior decoration of an existing device, designing the physical form factor of a device incorporating existing electronic components, and even creating new electronic components for incorporation in multiple device designs. The operating software development kit offers such capabilities as rearranging or redrawing the user interface for existing devices, or designing entirely new complete operating systems usable across multiple target device brands or brand groups. The device and operating software store is also not specific to any mobile device brand or brand group, and integrates with both branded and independent application stores. Further, the web-based development kit and store are integrated with one another such that creation of new devices, operating software packages, and applications can be accelerated by incorporation or customization of existing items or components thereof. In addition, the development kit incorporates tools for creating and embodying logic, interfaces, data, form factors, and functionality which can be used intuitively by all people, including children and adults who are not skilled software or hardware developers, while at the same time offering compatible advanced capabilities to those who are so skilled. Finally, the ecosystem itself includes features that facilitate communication, interaction, community, and sharing among and between creators, users, and other interested parties.

Method, apparatus, and computer-readable medium for space-efficient storage of variables in a non-volatile computer memory

A method, apparatus, and computer-readable medium for storing variables in a non-volatile computer memory are provided. The computer-readable medium has a data structure stored thereon that includes a first data field for storing a variable record including a header and variable information. The data structure also includes a second data field for storing a GUID for the variable. The variable record may comprise a full record or a data only record. A full record contains all of the identifying information for the record and the variable value. A data only record includes only an updated value for the variable. When a request is received to retrieve the variable value, the data structure is searched to locate the most recently created record for the variable. The value stored in this record is then returned in response to the request. Periodically, a garbage collection process may be performed to reduce the records stored for each variable to a single full record.

Apparatus for a lacrosse stick head

InactiveUS6962541B2Easy to adjustEasily and rapidly attachedThrow gamesBall sportsLocking mechanismEngineering
An apparatus used in playing the sport of lacrosse. The apparatus is located in a lacrosse player's stick head. During lacrosse play, a player may find it advantageous to use this invention to finely adjust the lengths and tensions of the thongs or netting material of the lacrosse stick head. In addition, this invention relates to the shooting string apparatus located in the head of a lacrosse stick and its adjustment. In this invention, the shooting string apparatus is constructed with a flat central piece called the shooting string section and a tension adjustment device. Affixed to the shooting section are a series of opposed flaps that fold over and hold the shooting string in place within the stick head. A tension string is connected to or through the shooting string section. The tension on the shooting string section may be easily and rapidly adjusted by controlling the length of the tension string by operating a finely continuously adjustable locking mechanism. The shooting string of this invention can be quickly and easily moved from one stick head to another and the tension on the installed shooting string may be quickly and easily adjusted by a locking mechanism. The adjustable locking mechanism simplifies the task of adjusting the shooting strings and makes adjustments more accurate and permanent

Reducing visibility of 3D noise

A 3D video device (40,50) is provided for processing a three dimensional [3D] video signal for avoiding visual disturbances during displaying on a 3D display (63). The 3D video signal comprises a left view and a right view for generating a 3D effect. The invention involves recognizing and solving a so-called dirty window effect, i.e. the problem that correlation between noise in both views results in the 3D noise being perceived on a particular depth. The video processor (42,52,53) is arranged for processing the 3D video data in dependence of at least one amount of visual disturbances to be expected during displaying of the 3D video data due to correlation of coding noise between said views for reducing said correlation of coding noise. The device has transfer means (46,55) for transferring the processed 3D video data for displaying on the 3D display. Also a 3D video signal (41) and a record carrier are provided.
