Ligation clip applier

A ligation clip applicator design is provided that is particularly applicable to placement of a surgical ligation clip during a laparoscopic surgical procedure. The applicator has a magazine including first and second longitudinally extending partially closed channels within which enlarged portions of a ligation clip are received and held in an open position. First and second substantially parallel compression members are attached to the magazine and have first and second channel extensions therein aligned with the first and second channels of the magazine for receiving the first and second enlarged portions of the clip. The channel extensions include first and second releasing openings. The compression members close about a vessel, remaining substantially parallel as they close. The clip is pushed forward into the compression members to a position where the enlarged portions of the clip are aligned with the releasing openings, permitting the clip to be released to close and ligate the vessel.

Closed capsule with opening means

The present invention relates to a capsule containing a substance for the preparation of a beverage that is designed to be extracted by injection of a fluid under pressure. The capsule comprises a closed chamber containing the substance with at least part of the closed chamber including a retaining part made of a flexible membrane. One or more raised elements that face the membrane are associated with and forming part of the capsule. These element(s) are used to open the capsule due to a buildup of pressure therein. This rise in pressure causes relative engagement of the raised element(s) with the membrane until the membrane ruptures or is torn to release the formed beverage from the chamber. As the liquid of the beverage does not come into contact with the machine, hygiene is improved and cross-contamination is reduced when preparing a beverage from the capsule.

System and method for removing heat from a subscriber optical interface

A system and method removes heat from an enclosure or housing of a subscriber optical interface. When a subscriber optical interface housing is attached to a structure such that a partially enclosed volume of space remains between the structure and the subscriber optical interface housing, this partially enclosed volume of space can produce a chimney effect when heat from the subscriber optical interface housing is intended to flow from fins towards the structure. This chimney effect can refer to a fluid such as air within the partially enclosed space that is heated by the fins and that rises upward when the ambient or surrounding fluid is cooler relative to the heated fluid. According to another exemplary embodiment, the subscriber optical interface can be shaped to form an internal chimney structure that is entirely surrounded by a housing of the subscriber optical interface.

Methods of manufacturing a load beam including a flexure / slider assembly are provided. A pre-form of a load beam has a base, a side beam extending from the base and a tab extending from the side beam, all substantially in a common plane. The flexure / slider assembly is attached to the base, then the load beam is bent in two locations, between the tab and the side beam, and between the side beam and the base. After bending, the tab and the side beam are substantially orthogonal to one another and both the tab and the side beam are substantially orthogonal to the base so that the base, side beam, and tab form a partial enclosure around the slider.

Machine vision belt tearing detecting and protecting device

The invention provides a machine vision belt tearing detecting and protecting device. A line laser device projects a consecutive laser straight line to the bottom surface of a belt, and CCD (Charge Coupled Device) cameras are used for respectively acquiring images from two sides. The images acquired in real time are transmitted to a tearing detection control computer; the intensity, curvature and other characteristics of the laser streak are extracted to be used for training of a neural network algorithm; and after learning, the network can quickly and accurately detect a tearing accident. In order to acquire clear and stable images at all time, a seal cover is used for sealing a part of the belt conveyer, and an LED light source is used for supplementing light. The double CCD fault-tolerance mechanism avoids noise interference on images due to bug dust, coal slag and other factors, and the structured light technique ensures that the complexity for image processing is reduced from two dimensions to one dimension. The invention has the advantages of low cost, high precision, simple structure and strong practicality, and effectively narrows the belt tearing range by discovering the tearing accident in time.

Since a lower-surface side opening of an elevator housing slit is closed by a partition wall portion of a cap in normal operation, and a rotating shaft receiving portion of an elevator has a rotating shaft housing groove opened on the side opposite to the lower surface when the elevator is attached to a distal end portion body, the elevator is not removed structurally at an angle of the elevator when the treatment tool is operated to be stood, and a rotating shaft and the rotating shaft receiving portion do not have to be attached excessively tightly. Therefore, a work load in disassembling and assembling of a distal end portion can be set appropriately, and workability in disassembling and assembling is improved. Moreover, as a result, the distal end portion can be cleaned rapidly and easily.
