Method for separating and extracting cannabidiol from industrial cannabis plants

The invention discloses a method for separating and extracting cannabidiol from industrial cannabis plants. The method comprises the following steps: leaching and concentration of the plants, extraction, normal phase column chromatography, and reverse phase column chromatography. The method has the following advantages of determining the polarity based on the chemical structure characteristic of cannabidiol, selecting suitable extraction solvents according to the principle that like dissolves like, and carrying out two times of simple column chromatography isolation on extract which is obtained through extraction, thereby obtaining a required product. The separation process is simple, the cycle time is short, the number of varieties of the solvents used for formulating the polarity is small, the solvents are easy to purchase, and the solvents in the steps of extraction, column chromatography and the like can be recycled and reused, so that the solvent consumption is low and the cost isgreatly reduced. The cannabidiol separated out does not need to be repurified by high-cost and high-efficiency preparative liquid chromatography. The method has high extraction efficiency, and is convenient to implement, economical, rapid and simple in operation.

Automated pruning or harvesting system for complex morphology foliage

Method and apparatus for automated operations, such as pruning, harvesting, spraying and / or maintenance, on plants, and particularly plants with foliage having features on many length scales or a wide spectrum of length scales, such as female flower buds of the marijuana plant. The invention utilizes a convolutional neural network for image segmentation classification and / or the determination of features. The foliage is imaged stereoscopically to produce a three-dimensional surface image, a first neural network determines regions to be operated on, and a second neural network determines how an operation tool operates on the foliage. For pruning of resinous foliage the cutting tool is heated or cooled to avoid having the resins make the cutting tool inoperable.

Method and Apparatus For Growing a Cannabis Plant

The present concept is a method of growing a Cannabis plant includes the steps of growing a main stem which is known as an apical meristem of a Cannabis plant to a height of 12 to 24 inches above the soil. Train the plant by trimming uppermost leaves of the apical meristem which results in the growth of at least three main upper branches emerging proximate the top of the plant. Apply a light cycle to stimulate a vegetative growth phase. Lower a screen onto the upper branches such that the upper branches support the weight of the screen, wherein applying the weight of the screen onto the upper branches increases the vigor of the plant and trains the branches to grow horizontally radially outwardly from the apical meristem. Manually position branches under the screen so that the branches are directed radially away from the apical meristem along a screen bottom surface and towards an outer periphery of the screen.

Mobile sieving apparatus and method for harvesting cannabis pollen and trichomes

ActiveUS10758940B1Efficient assemblage and replacement and interchangeabilityFacilitates carrying and pulling and pushingSievingScreeningCannabisMechanical engineering
A mobile sieving apparatus and method for harvesting cannabis pollen and trichomes separates the flowers of a cannabis plant. A large sieve panel, a medium sieve panel, a small sieve panel, and a silk screen panel are arranged in a spaced-apart stacked arrangement inside a harvesting vehicle. The sieved panels have different sized openings to enable passage of corresponding portions of the cannabis plant. The sieve panels are arranged by graduated separation, in which the distance between panels correlates to the size of the cannabis plant components passing through the opening. A harvesting panel has a solid, flat surface, and positions below the sieve panels to catch the pollens and trichomes falling through. The panels are stacked in a harvesting vehicle, sliding onto docking rails that slidably receive the edges of panels. The harvesting vehicle is lightweight to enable manual agitation of the vehicle, and enhance mobility of the panels.

Method and Apparatus for Pasteurizing and Dehydrating Cannabis

A method and apparatus for pasteurizing and drying cannabis plant materials using a microwave-vacuum chamber. The pasteurizing and drying are carried out with no use of ionizing radiation and with rapid drying. Pasteurization is done at a temperature and for a time period that are sufficient to reduce microorganisms to an acceptably low level, while not significantly reducing the psychoactive compounds in the material. In the process, the pressure inside a vacuum chamber is reduced to a first pressure less than atmospheric. The material is maintained in the vacuum chamber at the first pressure at a pasteurizing temperature while irradiating the material with microwave radiation. The pressure is then reduced to a second pressure lower than the first pressure and the material is maintained in the vacuum chamber at the second pressure for a time period at a dehydrating temperature lower than the pasteurizing temperature while irradiating the material with microwave radiation. The pasteurizing and dehydrating steps can be done in the reverse order.
