In vibration analysis, a dynamic vibration absorber, or vibration neutralizer, is a tuned spring-mass system which reduces or eliminates the vibration of a harmonically excited system. Rotating machines such as engines, motors, and pumps often incite vibration due to rotational imbalances. A dynamic absorber can be affixed to the rotating machine and tuned to oscillate in such a way that exactly counteracts the force from the rotating imbalance. This reduces the possibility that a resonance condition will occur, which can cause catastrophic failure. Properly implemented, a dynamic absorber will neutralize the undesirable vibration, which would otherwise reduce service life or cause mechanical damage.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a power tool having a further improved vibration reducing performance. The representative power tool may comprise a tool bit, an actuating mechanism, a dynamic vibration reducer. The actuating mechanism drives the tool bit linearly by means of pressure fluctuations so as to cause the tool bit to perform a predetermined operation. The dynamic vibration reducer has a weight that reciprocates under a biasing force of an elastic element to reduce vibration of the actuating mechanism. The weight may be driven by means of pressure fluctuations caused in the actuating mechanism. According to the invention, the weight of the dynamic vibration reducer can be actively driven by pressure fluctuations in the actuating mechanism for driving the tool bit. Therefore, regardless of the magnitude of vibration acting on the power tool, the dynamic vibration reducer can be forcedly and steadily operated.

Disclosed herein is a smart vibration absorber for traffic signal supports. In exemplary embodiments, the vibration absorber utilizes the mass of the signal head as a damped vibration absorber. The system may also include a spring and damper in mechanical communication with the signal head. The spring provides resistance to the compression force of the signal head while the damper provides a damping force removing energy from the system. Also disclosed herein is a controllable damper which may be connected to a computing device for varying the damping of the system. The controllable damper may be a magneto-rheological fluid damper. The smart vibration absorber may be constructed as a retrofit for installation on current traffic signals supports.

Rollers each have a groove formed on the peripheral edge and extending along the entire circumference of the roller. The outer rim of each rolling element bore engages with the groove of the associated roller so that the roller is loosely fitted in the rolling element bore. Shafts are respectively formed on both sides of each roller. The shafts project from the center of the roller. An elastic ring is mounted on each shaft. According to the dynamic vibration absorber, the defect that the traditional helical-spring vibration absorber is easily affected by mounting pre-tightening force is overcome; compared with the cantilever vibration absorber, the requirements on outward extending space are reduced; compared with the electromagnetic and electric tunable vibration absorbers, the electromagnetic leakage is less.
