The method, terminal and computer program product determine the context of the mobile terminal associated with the RFID reader and adjusts the power consumption of the RFID reader based upon the determined context relative to at least one previous context determination. To adjust the power consumption, the frequency at which the RFID reader is actuated may be altered. Thus, the power consumption of the RFID reader may be reduced when no change in the context of the mobile terminal is determined and / or may be increased when a change in the context of the mobile terminal is determined. Due to the adjustment of power consumption by RFID readers, power is conserved in the mobile terminals associated with RFID readers, which permits the mobile terminals and RFID readers to operate longer without requiring charging or replacement of the power supply.

What is disclosed is a micro-pilot injection ignition type gas engine, whereby an air fuel ratio control in starting the engine is executed with enhanced precision, by means of introducing skip-firing intermittent operations which reflect the engine operation conditions, while an idling time span can be shortened or omitted.
The engine includes: a gas valve that opens and closes a fuel-gas passage in front of each cylinder, so as to arbitrarily control the throat area as well as the opening-closing time span of the gas valve; an engine speed detecting unit to detect the engine speed; a combustion diagnosis unit to detect an engine combustion state through a cylinder pressure distribution along elapsed time, as to each cylinder; an opening-closing control unit as to the gas valve, so as to control the intermittent opening-closing of the gas valve according to the levels of the detected engine speed as well as the cylinder pressure distribution; whereby, in starting the engine, the intermittent opening-closing of the gas-valve enables at least one skip-firing mode that brings an enhanced fuel-supply pressure-pulsation with which a relatively large amount of fuel-gas is supplied per engine cycle with firing so that the air fuel-gas ratio of each cylinder reaches a prescribed target value.

Electrical power management system providing momentarily high power to a load

An electrical power management system (300) is disclosed comprising a power supply (301) which, when a first switch (302) and a third switch (306) are closed, provides power to a DC-DC step up converter (303) which, in turn, supplies power to a load (310) and simultaneously stores energy in a capacitor (305). In the case where the load momentarily requires more power than can be provided by the power supply, the first switch (302) and the third switch (306) are opened and a second switch (304) is closed. Energy previously stored in the capacitor (305) is now provided to the DC-DC step up converter (303) thereby allowing an efficient use of energy stored in the capacitor.

Thermal transfer printer

A thermal transfer printer comprises two parallel and adjacent print engines (1a, 1b), with each engine comprising a platen roller (4), a donor ribbon extending from a supply spool (10a, 10b) to a take-up spool (11a, 11b), and receiver supply rolls (5a, 5b) to hold a supply of receiver sheet. Drive means (11a, 11b; 26a, 26b) transport the donor ribbon and receiver sheet through the engine during printing independently from the drive means of the other engine. A printhead (3) has a row of heaters extending across both engines, with a first set (3a) of heaters positioned to operate with the first engine (1a) and a second set (3b) of heaters positioned to operate with the second engine (1b). Control means coordinate activation of the engines selectively with application of the image signal to the heater set which is operable with that selected engine. Both engines can be operated independently, enabling the printer to be set up for independent or dual printing.
