Context-aware threat response arbitration

A method for prioritizing potential threats identified by vehicle active safety systems. The method includes providing context information including map information, vehicle position information, traffic assessment information, road condition information, weather condition information, and vehicle state information. The method calculates a system context value for each active safety system using the context information. Each active safety system provides a system threat level value, a system braking value, a system steering value, and a system throttle value. The method calculates an overall threat level value using all of the system context values and all of the system threat level values. The method then provides a braking request value to vehicle brakes based on all of the system braking values, a throttle request value to a vehicle throttle based on all of the system throttle values, and a steering request value to vehicle steering based on all of the system steering values.

Combined air, water and road vehicle

Flying Car, readable aircraft, amphibian, multimode, multifunctional, composite versatile personal transport vehicle with twin, parallel fuselages, hulls, each with inflatable pontoons and / or wheels below and a cabin. Combined, aircraft, airplane, aeroplane, flying, air, aerial, airborne vehicle with variable, folding wings which is convertible via automatic transformation to a land vehicle and to a sea vessel. Two wings are stored between the fuselages. They extend on a system of rails, pivots and counter-rotating, fuselage-mounted arms which then sink flush into the wings' undersides and lock for flight. Upon wing extension and retraction, controls for road transport and flight controls alternately emerge or are stowed inoperably, as needed. Engine power alternately drives a propeller for flight, wheels for road travel and a separate, submersible, marine propeller for water transport.

Tutorial generator with automatic capture of screenshots

Screenshots on a computer display are automatically captured to assist in building a tutorial to demonstrate the functionality of one or more applications. In one possible approach, an event detector, such as an accessibility toolkit, detects when events are generated by the one or more applications. The events may include, e.g., button clicks, windows opening or closing, drag and drop events, check boxes being checked, menus being pulled down or menu items selected, and so forth. Or, a program may monitor pixel changes on the screen to detect when changes occur in the images generated by the one or more applications. A tutorial builder application automatically captures an image when the event or image change is detected, edits the captured image such as by providing a focus on the changed portion, and provides the edited image in a tutorial window. Related text can also be automatically generated.

Identification of participant in a teleconference

A contributor who is one of a number of participants divided into groups at telephone terminals is identified by recognizing the contributor voice during a teleconference managed by a conference device connected to the terminals. After the voice of the contributor received by the conference device is identified, an identifier of the identified contributor is broadcast from the conference device to the terminals and reproduced at the terminals. The contributor is introduced to the other participants, automatically or on demand, for example by a voice or visual message including the contributor name. The conference device can be included in one of the terminals; for example, the identifier identifies a contributor other than the regular user of a communicating telephone or mobile radio telephone.

Method of teaching reading

A method for teaching reading is provided, reflecting the understanding that reading is a process, operating primarily implicitly and guided by a neural network built specifically for that purpose. During the Excellent Reading component, the student must produce excellent reading—made possible by enhancing the predictability of the text through listening repeatedly to it interspersed with reading it silently. The student's brain is seduced into utilizing prediction of meaning as the major reading strategy, which allows it to develop implicitly-operating prediction and confirmation strategies that consistently yield excellent reading. During the Coached Reading component, as the student reads the text aloud from unfamiliar text, a tutor gives feedback designed to assist the brain realize its current reading strategies are not producing the desired results and the erroneously-built neural network needs remodeling. During the Independent Reading component, the brain experiments with the strategy ideas formulated as a result of experiencing the other components.

Bidirectional motion estimating method and video frame rate up-converting method and system

The invention provides a bidirectional motion estimating method and system. The method comprises, after a prior frame image and a current frame image are obtained, performing bidirectional motion estimation based on forward block matching and backward block matching respectively; then according to the minimum SAD (sum of absolute difference) value and the corresponding motion vector which are obtained respectively, obtaining a final motion vector, wherein the obtained final motion vector can accurately describe the motion status of a moving object and accordingly solve the confusion between the moving object and the background due to inaccuracy of the motion vector. The invention also provides a video frame rate up-converting method and system. The method comprises obtaining the final motion vector according to the bidirectional motion estimating method and system and then performing motion vector filtering, motion compensation and blocking effect treatment; the finally obtained interpolated frames can eliminate confusion between the moving object and the background and blocking effects, improves the image quality of interpolated images, reduces the problems such as smoothness and continuity of video images and improves the visual effects of videos.

Method and system for locating an object

One aspect of the invention is a system for locating an object. The system may include, for example, an object electromagnetic receiver, an audio amplifier, an audio transducer, and an object microprocessor coupled to the object electromagnetic receiver and the audio amplifier. The object microprocessor is configured to ascertain whether a valid activation signal has been received by the object electromagnetic receiver, and if so, read a digital sound file, and ascertain whether the signal strength of the received valid activation signal is above a first threshold. If the signal strength is not above the first threshold, the object microprocessor outputs a maximum sound level indicator signal; and if the signal strength is above the first threshold, the object microprocessor outputs a second tier sound level indicator signal.

Computer-based methods and structures for stent-graft selection

A stent-graft planning system is a web-based system that assists a physician in selecting and ordering the right stent-graft online in real-time. The stent-graft planning system provides a physician with a two-dimensional (2D) graphic model reflecting the individual vessel anatomy, e.g., aneurismal anatomy, and the selected stent graft in that anatomy. By comparing the graphic model with the image of the patient's vessels, the physician can note any dimensions that are inconsistent with the graphic image and problems with the stent-graft placement. Each collected measurement is validated and the physician is warned if the measurement suggests a problem. The stent-graft system automatically generates the most suitable stent graft for an individual patient. After reviewing the selected stent graft in the 2D model, the stent graft can be ordered online.
