Vial access transfer set

A vial access transfer set for use with a bottle containing a medicinal fluid that provides a mechanism for securely attaching an administration set to the bottle and also provides a universal spike port to which any primary IV line can be readily attached. The vial access transfer set includes a novel, vented vial access adapter to which a length of tubing can be connected, the adapter comprising a top wall, a cannula connected to the top wall and a uniquely configured, resiliently deformable slitted skirt connected to the top wall and extending therefrom. With this construction, during the interconnection of the vial access transfer set with the bottle, the rubber septum of the bottle can readily be pierced by the cannula and the resiliently deformable skirt positively snapped into place over the neck portion of the drug vial or bottle to maintain the adapter in secure connection with the bottle. The apparatus is easy to use and positively prevents the accidental separation of the length of tubing carrying the medicinal fluid from the bottle.

The invention provides a syringe for dispensing a drug (1), comprising: a rigid syringe body,—a first container (2), in contact with and enclosing the drug; and a second container (3), enclosing the first container, the second container being less gas permeable than the first container, wherein the second container partially or fully forms the rigid syringe body or is held within the rigid syringe body. The invention preserves the drug but allows the drug to be easily accessed without the need for a user to remove a gas barrier structure as a separate action in addition to the other actions needed to deliver the drug.

Polymer micro-needle array chip, and preparation method and application thereof

The invention discloses a polymer micro-needle array chip. The chip comprises a micro-needle array and a substrate used for the standing of the micro-needle array; and the matrix material of the micro-needle array is a polyacrylamide polymer. The invention also discloses a preparation method of the polymer micro-needle array chip, a micro-needle transdermal drug delivery patch prepared through utilizing the polymer micro-needle array chip, and a preparation method of the patch. The micro-needle of the polymer micro-needle array chip has a high mechanical strength and a sharp needle point, so the skin cuticle can be easily pierced; the preparation method avoids a high-temperature processing treatment step, and is in favor of maintaining the activities of biomacromolecules comprising polypeptides, proteins and the like; the polyacrylamide polymer can easily dissolve or swell after meeting with the water-containing environment, and is in favor the sustained release of drugs in skins; and the preparation method of the polymer micro-needle array chip based transdermal drug delivery patch is simple, so the batch produced can be realized through utilizing present manure processing technologies.

Orthodontic bone screw

A self-positioning and self-starting, tapered thread, orthodontic bone screw (25) for use in intra-oral corrections that serves as a craniomaxillofacial rigid post for orthodontic appliance fixation. The tip of the bone screw incorporates a defined sharp pin-point tack tip (2) to easily pierce the soft tissue and initially penetrate into the host bone for alignment and penetration. In series with the tack tip is a self-tapping, double, tapered thread (11) which allows an orthodontist to insert the bone screw post into the host bone in a single operation without the need for opening or flapping the surrounding soft tissue. As the bone screw penetrates the bone site, the tapered threads (24) allow for easy thread pick-up into the host bone while the increasing outer diameter of the thread (26) rigidly locks into the crestal bone. Once attached and fixated in the host bone, the distal cylindrical dome shaped driver head (12) acts as the fixation post for the anchorage of orthodontic appliances. Incorporated into the cylindrical dome shaped driver head are several attachment features including cross holes (13) and a snap-on undercut groove (19) for attaching orthodontic appliances either individually or simultaneously. The dome shaped head also incorporates a spline driver feature for easy pick-up, assembly and insertion of the screw with a corresponding spline driver tool (27) that allows the screw to be driven with either a standard square or cross slot driver feature.
