The invention discloses a variable-frequency main power source ship power station, and the power station comprises prime motors ME, engines G, rectifiers, a DC busbar DC, an AC busbar AC, an inverter, and a frequency converter. There are a plurality of groups of motors ME, engines G and rectifiers. The motors ME are connected with the engines G, and drive the engines G to rotate. The engines G output electric energy to the rectifiers, and the rectifiers are connected with the DC busbar DC, and transmit the direct current to the DC busbar DC. The inverter is connected between the DC busbar DC and the AC busbar AC, enables the direct current of the DC busbar DC to be converted into the alternating current with the rated frequency, and supplies the alternating current to the AC busbar AC of the ship power station. The frequency converter is connected with the DC busbar DC, and the direct current is used for controlling variable-frequency power utilization equipment through the frequency converter after frequency conversion. The invention solves a problem of energy waste caused by the condition that the rotating speeds of prime motors ME are constant and cannot be adjusted along with the load change when the change of a power utilization load of a ship under different work conditions is bigger.
