An outboard motor incorporates a driveshaft and a propulsion shaft driven by the driveshaft. The driveshaft carries a pinion. The propulsion shaft carries forward and reverse gears. The pinion always meshes with the forward and reverse gear and drives the forward and reverse gears in opposite directions relative to each other. A hydraulic forward clutch mechanism couples the forward gear with the propulsion shaft. A hydraulic reverse clutch mechanism couples the reverse gear with the propulsion shaft. A shift actuator selectively operates the forward clutch mechanism or the reverse clutch mechanism to provide forward, reverse and / or neutral running conditions for the outboard motor.

The planet carrier and ring gear are coupled to internal and external output shafts that are coaxially aligned, which are coupled to aft and forward propulsor elements. The ring gear and planet carrier rotate in opposite directions to provide contra-rotating forward and aft propulsor elements. The ring gear and planet gear are each coupled to rotation altering devices that, when at least one is activated, the rotation of both the planet carrier and ring gear will be altered, thereby altering the rotation of the propulsor elements.

Power regenerating watercraft hydraulic pressure propulsion method and apparatus

The present invention provides a pushing method and device which is used in shipping and other vehicle in water. The method is based on hydraulic transmission principle. Mechanical energy exported by a shipping mainframe is transformed to pressure energy of hydraulic oil by a two-way variable displacement pump. An airscrew and other assist device are respectively driven. The pressure energy of the hydraulic oil is transformed to mechanical energy of the airscrew by a hydraulic motor. The two-way variable displacement pump and the shipping mainframe are controlled to adjust rotate speed and veer of the airscrew in order to adjust diversified motion conditions of the shipping. The energy exported by the hydraulic motor in dumping condition is withdrawn by using a hydraulic accumulator, and the energy is released in a process of reversing and accelerating. Two shipping mainframes work in multi method, which is realized through switching of pipeline. The pushing method has the advantages of flexible cabin disposal, high power weight ratio of device, good safety and reliability, high maneuverability and good condition combining characteristics.

A vertical fluid power transmission includes: a vertical crankshaft of an engine; a vertical output shaft; and a vertical torque converter disposed between the crankshaft and the output shaft. An oil supply passage is connected to one end of the circulation circuit of the vertical torque converter, and guides a stored oil that is drawn up from an oil tank and discharged by an oil pump. An oil return passage is connected to the other one end of the circulation circuit, and leads to the oil tank. A normally-closed pressure response valve is provided in the oil return passage. The pressure response valve is opened by an upstream pressure. Thus, the oil tank for storing a working oil of the torque converter is separated from the torque converter, thereby downsizing the torque converter, and the working oil is circulated between the oil tank and the circulation circuit of the torque converter, thereby promoting cooling of the working oil.

A radial vane fluid motor or pump has an open ended tubular rotor having a cylindrical outer surface rotatably mounted in a tubular stator having its inner surface contoured to provide successive portions of increased and decreased spacing relative to the rotor body. A plurality of elongated movable vane assemblies are mounted on and project outwardly from the rotor surface to continuously contact the stator surface. Bearings support the rotor within the stator, and seals are provided for sealing the space between the rotor and stator. Pressure inlets and exhaust ports are provided in the stator to permit the flow of pressure fluid into or out of the device. Mounting the vanes on the cylindrical rotor surface enables production cost reduction and simplifies maintenance. A conventional propeller mounted in the cylindrical rotor provides an improved shrouded propellor propulsion system for marine vessels. Mounting the system on a vessel for rotation about an axis perpendicular to the axis of the rotor enables steering of the vessel without use of a redder.

Outboard engine system

An outboard engine system includes a casing and an engine mounted in an upper part of the casing. The casing also contains a torque converter, and a vertically arranged output shaft connected to a crankshaft through the torque converter. In the torque converter, a turbine runner is arranged above a pump impeller and connected to the output shaft, and a transmission cover is connected to an outer periphery of the pump impeller so as to cover an upper surface of the turbine runner. A drive plate is secured at its central portion to a lower end of the crankshaft by a first bolt, and an outer peripheral portion of the drive plate is secured to the transmission cover by a second bolt. The torque converter is suspended from the crankshaft via the drive plate. Thus, it is possible to provide an outboard engine system which enables support of a torque converter without using any bearing exclusively for supporting the overall weight of the torque converter, thereby reducing the cost.
