Method and apparatus for performing transmit (TX) power control in convergence network of plural communication systems

A method and apparatus for performing transmit (Tx) power control in a convergence network of a plurality of communication systems. A method for performing transmit power control (TPC) in a plurality of communication system convergence networks includes receiving, by a first entity of a first communication system, a TPC information request message requesting information associated with transmit power control (TPC) from a second entity of a second communication system; upon receiving a request of the TPC information request message, transmitting a first TPC information reporting message, which includes a maximum transmit (Tx) power value of the first entity and an interference signal value caused by a neighbor entity of the first entity, to the second entity; receiving a TPC command message, which includes information of the maximum Tx power value of the first entity adjusted based on the maximum Tx power value of the first entity and the interference signal value, from the second entity; and adjusting the maximum Tx power value of the first entity based on the information regarding the adjusted maximum Tx power of the first entity.

Secure pki communications for "machine-to-machine" modules, including key derivation by modules and authenticating public keys

Methods and systems are provided for efficient and secure “Machine-to-Machine” (M2M) between modules and servers. A module can communicate with a server by accessing the Internet, and the module can include a sensor and / or actuator. The module and server can utilize public key infrastructure (PKI) such as public keys to encrypt messages. The module and server can use private keys to generate digital signatures for datagrams sent and decrypt messages received. The module can internally derive pairs of private / public keys using cryptographic algorithms and a set of parameters. A server can use a shared secret key to authenticate the submission of derived public keys with an associated module identity. For the very first submission of a public key derived the module, the shared secret key can comprise a pre-shared secret key which can be loaded into the module using a pre-shared secret key code.

Prose relay ue activation

The present disclosure relates to a method for activating a relay functionality of a ProSe capable and relay-capable user equipment within a mobile communication network. The radio base station, to which the relay UE is connected, determines whether further relays are necessary in the radio cell controlled by the radio base station. In case further relays are necessary in the radio cell, the radio base station selects a persistence check value and transmits a broadcast message in the radio cell. The broadcast message at least indicates that further relays are necessary and comprises the selected persistence check value. Upon receiving the broadcast message, the relay UE activates its relay functionality in case it determines that relay requirements for activating its relay functionality in the radio cell are fulfilled and in case a persistence check performed by the relay UE based on the received persistence check value is successful.

Methods and Apparatus for Handling MTC Long DRX Cycle/Sleep Lengths

Current wireless networks do not allow machine type communication (MTC) devices to have long discontinuous reception (DRX) cycles or sleep lengths. A long DRX cycle may allow MTC systems and devices to operate with much longer DRX / Sleep cycles / periods. This may facilitate the MTC operations for infrequent system access or infrequent system reaching (e.g. paged once in a week) with no or low mobility and may allow MTC devices to sleep for a long time with low power consumption.
