Method of reducing power consumption in a ue when the ue is in idle mode

A method is described for determining the rate of performing neighbor cell measurements by a User Equipment (UE) in an idle mode, which is based on the RANK information of the serving cell and neighbor cells. The RANK information is available with the UE. Comparison of the RANK of the serving cell with a predefined Threshold Value along with the status of the Order of the RANKs of the neighbor cells for a predefined number of DRX cycles, are verified to conclude whether the UE should perform the neighbor cell measurement when the UE is in the idle mode. Thus the method utilizes cell RANKs to determine the network topology. The RANKs are deduced using Hysteresis, Cell Individual offsets, and other parameters by the UE to provide a more practical indication of the neighboring environment of a cell.

Method of channel management for multiple component carrier in mobile communication system

Disclosed are channel management methods in a multicarrier structure in a mobile communication system. Uplink (UL) and downlink (DL) channel management methods in a carrier aggregation environment are used as the channel management methods. In DL, a base station determines a component carrier (CC) of an unstable radio channel state, stops data retransmission by the CC, and notifies a terminal of retransmission stop. In UL, the base station determines a CC of an unstable radio channel state and instructs the terminal to stop data retransmission by the CC, and the terminal stops the data retransmission and initializes a retransmission buffer. Using the channel management methods in the mobile communication system employing the multicarrier structure, an increase in the number of unnecessary retransmissions is prevented, so that unnecessary retransmission and power consumption of the terminal can be reduced and the waste of radio resources and the degradation of base station performance due to unnecessary retransmission can be prevented.

Access point, wireless communication station, wireless communication system and wireless communication method

The present invention implements an intermittent reception method with which a portable station that does not receive a multicast service does not enter the Awake state unnecessarily. A packet buffer portion buffers a received packet in such a memory as RAM and recording device, and judges whether the buffered packet is a multicast packet. When the packet buffer unit judges that the packet buffered by the packet buffer unit is a multicast packet, a DTIM beacon generation unit generates a DTIM beacon in which multicast notification data indicating that the multicast packet is buffered is set. A packet transmission unit transmits the DTIM beacon generated by the DTIM beacon generation unit to wireless communication stations or the like.

Method and system for minimizing power consumption of user equipment during cell detection

A method and system for minimizing the battery power consumption of user equipment (UE) during inter-frequency cell detection in a heterogeneous network is disclosed. A serving cell in the heterogeneous network provides a relaxed cell detection indication to the UE on a specified frequency for cell detection. The UE applies the relaxed cell detection for detecting the cells on the specified frequency. During inter-frequency cell detection on specified frequency, the UE discards some normal measurement gaps. The inter-frequency cell detection is delayed as compared to normal cell detection time requirement using the normal measurement gaps. The UE deactivates the relaxed detection indication, upon detecting the inter-frequency cell and performs the continuous RSRP and RSRQ measurements for detected inter-frequency cell using all the normal measurement gaps to meet normal measurement accuracy and measurement reporting requirement.
