Fine particles of dust and other pollutants in gas streams are agglomerated to form larger particles which are more easily filtered in downstream processing. In one embodiment, particles in successive portions of the gas stream are charged with opposite polarity, and the gas stream is introduced into an Evasé portion (12) to slow it down. Particles of different sizes have differential deceleration and therefore mix generally in the direction of flow, leading to agglomeration of oppositely-charged particles. In another embodiment, a gas stream is divided into substreams in respective parallel passages, and the particles in adjacent passages are charged to opposite polarity. Deflectors at the downstream end of the passages cause substreams of particles of opposite polarity to mix, with resultant agglomeration of oppositely charged particles.

A unitary-enclosure housing apparatus and arrangement for protecting and cooling the high voltage electronic conditioning and filtering circuitry components used for providing a high-voltage waveform to an electrostatic precipitator device includes a hermetically sealed dielectric liquid coolant filled tank/housing having one or more side-mounted hollow-panel type radiator structures for dissipating heat from the coolant. Air or gas cleaners enhance the uniformity of the current density between an emitter and one or more receptor electrodes by positioning one or more insulators or effective resistors between the emitter and the receptor electrode. Insulators and/or effective resistors are used to shield select portions, e.g. the edges of plate-type receptor electrodes, from ionization current flowing between an emitter and unshielded portions. This allows more compact structures without ionization current concentrations at the shielded regions, and results in lower ozone generation for a given particle collection efficiency.

An air conditioning apparatus includes a cabinet having air inlet and outlet openings and an intense field dielectric air filtration system disposed in the cabinet between the inlet and outlet openings. Therefore, assembling errors can be limited to a minimal value; an anode plate dust collecting area is greatly improved simultaneously; a complex cathode wire framework suspension installation system and a complex cathode rapping ash removal device are left out so that sources of faults produced frequently are eliminated; and smoke dust emission concentration of the combined type electric deduster is reduced a value of 1 to 0mg/Nm<3>. The technology of the combined type electric deduster is suitable for large, middle and small electric dedusters.

The invention provides an overhead type rectangular wet electric precipitator. The main body section of the electric precipitator is of a rectangular cylindrical structure and comprises a spray washing system, an anode module, a cathode module, a spray humidification system and a uniform distribution device; the electric precipitator is also provided with a shell self-supporting structure which comprises an inner column, an outer column, a main truss, an auxiliary truss and an annular truss; the inner column provided with the main truss is adhered to the outer wall of an absorption tower, and the top end of the main truss is used for supporting the wet electric precipitator; the main truss and the auxiliary truss are spaced from each other and are connected mutually to transfer load; the top end of the outer column provided with the auxiliary truss is used for supporting the wet electric precipitator; the annular truss is attached to the outer wall of the absorption tower; the inner column is arranged on the annular truss.
