Diaphragm and hydraulically-operated valve using same

The present invention relates to fluid control valves. The invention provides an improved diaphragm useful for a large hydraulically-operated valve or pressure regulating valve of the type used in pipelines to transport water, oil, gas, acids, alkalis and other fluids. The diaphragm being provided with an upper face arranged to be exposed to a control hydraulic pressure and a lower face arranged to selectively seal and open a passage between a valve inlet and a valve outlet, ribs on said upper face urging the diaphragm towards a sealing position. The diaphragm being characterized by the addition of an elastomer ring element disposed adjacent to the upper face and adjacent to the largest diameter of the diaphragm exposed inside a valve to which it may be assembled, an upper face of the flexible ring element being in pressure contact with a portion of the rigid body of the valve. The flexible ring element further urging the diaphragm towards its lower position and allowing closure of the valve without use of a metallic compression spring.

The system can be assembled remotely, started and tested, partially disassembled into the skid modules, and then installed at the well site with minimal additional effort by generally providing lines and connections between the modules.

The hurricane prevention system and method for use in ocean water is provided including a buoyant platform on which is disposed a wind-driven power source, a water-moving system, and a water-dispersing system. The wind-driven power source is configured to use wind energy to power the water-moving system, which is configured to transport water from somewhat deeper ocean water levels to, or near, the level of the ocean. The water-dispersing system is preferably configured to disperse the water from the water-moving system to an area at or near the sea surface. The buoyant platform preferably is anchored by a mooring system. The hurricane prevention system and method is designed to bring cooler water from deeper in the ocean to or near the ocean surface and to disperse that cooler water in that area to reduce the sea surface temperature, thereby preventing or inhibiting the formation of hurricanes.

System, method and apparatus for widespread commercialization of hydrogen as a carbon-free alternative fuel source

A system for efficiently transporting hydrogen from where it can be economically made to where it is most needed using specially designed airships. Technologies such as geothermal, wind, solar, wave tidal or hydropower can be used to generate electricity in-situ or very near to the primary energy sources. This electricity can then be used to produce hydrogen directly from water through various methods known in the art. Hydrogen can be delivered from the place where it is produced to the place where it is needed using an airship in which the hydrogen gas can also be used for generating lift, providing propulsion energy and serving ancillary needs. In other embodiments of the invention, the airship of the present invention can be used to dramatically reduce the cost of transportation of freight, the cost of passenger transportation, and to save on the area required for landing at the points of loading / unloading and embarkation / debarkation. And in another embodiment, the airship of the present invention can be used for transporting water and food to areas where needed. A unique docking system can use a remotely piloted unmanned aircraft flown from the mother craft to carry a guide line into a receiving attachment point.

Transportable and collapsible fabric tank system with integral balloon baffle system

A portable, flexible, fabric-composite-based, tank system with internal baffles capable for transporting water and other liquids on a non-dedicated truck is herein disclosed. A heavy textile tank is impregnated with a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is available in multiple sizes capable of being transported by pickup, flatbed or tractor-trailer trucks. The fabric tank have a series of internal inflatable baffles to aid in the stability of the tank by preventing sloshing of the liquid contents while traveling with the tank partially filled. The internal baffles inflate to sizes large enough to force liquids out of the tank through the discharge valve by displacing fluid with air without the need for a pump. When finished with use, the fabric tanks can be cleaned, dried, and collapsed for storage, thus allowing the truck's transport platform to be used for other tasks if necessary.

The apparatus can discharge directly to a below ground drain such as a storm drain, sewer or drain field. Alternatively, the apparatus can have an above ground downwardly directed discharge.

The primary filter sits on the gasket, with the leaf trap resting above the primary filter. Both the leaf trap and the primary filter have a hole through which the tube extends, and handles. The primary filter houses a filtration element which is washable and disposable. The pool cleaning apparatus may be mounted onto a cart, or be permanently installed.

Apparatus and method for transporting water with liner

An apparatus and method for lining ditches is provided. The apparatus and method for lining ditches, according to the present invention, includes a plurality of substantially corrugated liner sections, preferably made of a thermoplastic material such as polyethylene.
