Blue blocking lens

InactiveUS6955430B2Maximizing visual acuity and blockageMinimize aberrationGogglesNon-optical partsCamera lensUses eyeglasses
An article of externally-worn eye wear, including, but not limited to, eyeglasses, sunglasses, goggles, and contact lenses. The eye wear includes a wavelength transmission blocker for blocking substantially all of light wavelengths throughout the blue light spectrum. The wavelength transmission blocker protects the eyes against the harmful effect of the blocked light. Also, since the eye wear is worn externally from the eye, and the user can remove the eye wear, the user can selectively block the light. As such, the eye wear can be worn to block potentially harmful light, or the eye wear can be removed if blocking the light would cause other hazards.

Portable video oculography system

A goggle based light-weight VOG system includes at least one digital camera connected to and powered by a laptop computer through a firewire connection. The digital camera may digitally center the pupil in both the X and Y directions. A calibration mechanism may be incorporated onto the goggle base. An EOG system may also be incorporated directly into the goggle. The VOG system may track and record 3-D movement of the eye, track pupil dilation, head position and goggle slippage. An animated eye display provides data in a more meaningful fashion. The VOG system is a modular design whereby the same goggle frame or base is used to build a variety of digital camera VOG systems.

Optical guidance system for invasive catheter placement

Light from a small laser diode is inserted in a distal end of a catheter and passed through an optical fiber that is either included in the lumen or incorporated into the wall of an invasive catheter tube during manufacture. The light is selected to be of a wavelength that is minimally absorbed by tissue, preferably in the range from about 620 nm to 1100 nm. 780 nm is preferably used as this is where the tissue absorption is near a minimum. The light passes out the end of the fiber (at the proximal end of the catheter) and through the tissue to the outside of the patient's skin where it is measured. The light pattern is observed by night vision goggles that filter out other frequencies of light. The detected light permits location of the end of the fiber, the positional accuracy depending on the thickness of tissue between the fiber tip and the exterior of the body. The method is highly accurate for small children and for catheters within a few centimeters of the skin surface of adults.

Ventilated safety goggles

The invention is for safety goggles to protect eyes of a user of the safety goggles. The safety goggles include a lens and a frame with a bridge. A goggle chamber is formed between the lens and the face of the user. The safety goggles have a lower ventilation assembly that admits air one either side of the bridge. The safety goggles also includes an upper ventilation assembly at an upper portion of the frame. Air enters the goggle chamber through the lower ventilation assembly, heats near a nose of the user and exits the goggle chamber through the upper ventilation assembly. Each of the lower and upper ventilation assemblies cover a corresponding lower and upper air path in such a manner that allows air to pass through the corresponding air path while preventing solid projectiles and splashed liquid from having a direct line of trajectory to the eyes of the user.

Safety goggles structure

The present invention discloses a safety goggles structure having a frame connecting portion, a frame latch portion, two frame snap-in portions, a lens connecting portion, a lens latch portion, two lens snap-in portions and two elastic buckles to mount a lens onto a frame for achieving the effect of securely connecting the frame and the lens or improving their connecting stability. With an upper guide channel slantingly and concavely disposed on the frame and a lower guide channel vertically up-and-down and concavely disposed on the frame, gases and liquids can pass through without producing fogs and accumulating liquid on the lens, and foreign substances cannot enter into the safety goggles easily to cause any safety issue. With the design of an upper gutter on the frame, liquid splashed onto the safety goggles can flow along either side of the upper gutter to prevent liquid accumulation or leaking.

Eye medicament dispenser

A device for applying a medicament to the eye, consisting of a single or pair of eye goggles, into which is sprayed a fine mist or fog of the medicament. The medicament is contained in a canister attached to an aperture in the goggle or goggles, and the mist is generated either by the configuration of the outlet valve, or by means of a baffle disposed within the goggle volume opposite the outlet valve. The container may be a bag-on-valve type of device, with the aerosol propellant outside of the medicament bag, such that the medicament does not come into contact with the propellant. Alternatively, the container may be a metered-dose inhalator type of container operated by manual pressure. Because of the one-way flow operation, and the separation of propellant and medicament, formulation of the medicament with a potentially harmful preservative is not necessary.

Programmable multi-color backlight for a liquid crystal display

A lighting apparatus for a liquid crystal display. The apparatus includes an array of light emitting diodes disposed alongside the liquid crystal display, which illuminate the display. Light pipes transmit the light from the light emitting diodes to the display, which light pipes span across a plane parallel with the liquid crystal display. A filter is disposed between the array and the light pipes for filtering out infra-red light from the light emitting diodes. This apparatus has special applications in the cockpit of an aircraft where the pilot is wearing infra-red light filtering goggles and needs to see outside the aircraft as well as read the instruments. The color of the light emitting diodes may be switched from red, to green to blue, depending upon the type of goggles the pilot is wearing.

Pneumatic tool system operation and carrier belt

A pneumatic tool system operation and carrier belt comprised of a band worn around the waist of the user and from which is suspended a plurality of cinctures that respectively hold a set of hand tools, a pneumatic tool, a mini compressor, a small battery, and goggles, wherein the pneumatic tool, the mini compressor, and the small battery are interconnected. As such, the user goes to the work site only wearing the carrier belt holding the entire pneumatic tool system and operates the pneumatic tools directly from the belt because the power supply and compressed air source are built in, which improves upon the conventional need to connect a confusing array of equipment cables and hoses. Furthermore, the present invention does not hinder work and prevents accidental injury and other hazardous situations, and thereby provides a carrier belt that facilitates construction and manual dexterity.

Protective Goggle Assembly

A protective goggle assembly has a goggle frame having a rigid goggle body formed on a front side. The goggle body has recesses formed on two sides of a lower end so that a resilient face engaging portion is integrally formed with a rear side of the goggle frame. The resilient face engaging portion includes edges on two sides of a lower end, which edges are formed with a curved shape based on a human face contour. When the goggle frame and the lens are assembled with a strap buckled to the two sides for use, and the resilient face engaging portion on the rear side of the goggle frame is in contact with a user's face and cheekbones, the recesses formed on the two sides of the lower end of the rigid goggle body provide the resilient face engaging portion with a larger space for flexible adjustment.

Thermal vision mask

The invention is a thermal imaging camera lens that has an LCD display mounted on the opposing side of the camera, which is integrated into a fire mask visor. The fire mask visor is used in conjunction with an oxygen mask. The thermal imaging lens is directed along the same line of sight as the user's, which provides for greater ease of use in hazardous situations. However, the thermal imaging lens can be rotated to a desired angle and line of sight of the end user. A sealant can be applied to the perimeter of the thermal imaging system housing and the visor to prevent the introduction of smoke and / or hazardous gases from entering the interior side of the visor.

Ski helmet with adjustable face shield

InactiveUS7716754B1Sufficiently light-weightLight-weightHatsSport apparatusEngineeringForehead
The present invention is a ski helmet that combines a visor and face shield. Adapted to the ski helmet is a suitably thick strip of resilient foam material positioned across the exterior front-facing surface of the helmet protecting the forehead area of the person wearing the helmet. The face shield can be rotated to various positions which will change the contact area of the face shield and foam strip and thus the amount of air flow between the face shield and user's face. When the face shield is in maximum contact with the foam strip, air flow is minimized.
