Consecutively wound or stacked battery cells

The specification discloses a consecutively wound or stacked battery system and a method for making these devices. In one aspect, battery cells are wound consecutively, separated by insulating layers, to form an integral battery system capable of producing multiple voltages. In a second, but related, aspect, multiple battery cells are wound consecutively on a large diameter mandrel, cut in a radial plane, and laid flat to form stacked battery systems capable of producing multiple voltages. Whether remaining in the consecutively wound configuration, or being cut to become a stacked cell configuration, each cell in these configurations may be selectively coupled to other cells within its consecutive winding or stack to produce desired output voltages and current ratings. In the case of the stacked battery system, this battery system may be selectively cut to provide amperage capacities to order. Moreover, the consecutively wound or stacked battery systems may also include capacitors, fuel cells, and the like, wound in the same fashion.

In a coaxial connector, especially an integrally pre-mounted connector, the recess (7a) receiving the end of the coaxial cable can be sealed in the connector head (7) relative to the cable with the help of an integrated perimeter seal (10). For this purpose the perimeter seal (10) is received in a form-fitting manner in a pressure member (9) which establishes the electric connection between the outer cable conductor (3) and the conductor head (7) and connects the same in a manner so as to be secure against withdrawal. The perimeter seal comprises at least one and preferably several ring-like lips (10a, 10b, 10c) which project radially inwardly, deform when the pressure member (9) is slid onto the cable in the direction of its end (3a) and, after the clamping of the pressure member, stand again in the same radial plane as in the unloaded state.

An aftermarket handguard system is described for use with an assault rifle, such as an AR-15. The system includes an elongated arcuate upper handguard section substantially defining a longitudinal axis and a plurality of radial planes normal thereto. The handguard section has left and right generally outward directed rail flanges having non-parallel flange mating surfaces. Two lower arcuate handguard sections are provided also each having laterally extending rail flanges with non-parallel flange mating surfaces.
