A lighting control system is disclosed. The lighting control system is electrically coupled to a load circuit for controlling indoor and/or outdoor lighting. The lighting control system includes a control module with a night light for providing low-level night light illumination and one or more sensors for operatively controlling the indoor and/or outdoor lighting and the night light in response to measured light levels and/or detected motion. The system is preferably configured to provide low-level night light from the night light when measured light levels and detected motion are below threshold values and to automatically turn on the indoor and/or outdoor lighting and simultaneously turn off the night light when measured light levels and detected motion are above the threshold values.

System and method are provided where an occupancy sensor with a time delay function designed to dim the lights, for example as a warning, after a first period of time has expired without detecting room occupancy. The lights remain dimmed for a second period of time, and then are turned off after a third period of time has expired without detecting room occupancy. If occupancy is detected during the first period of time, the lights will remain on. If occupancy is detected during the second or third period of time, the lights will be turned on to, for example, previous brightness. A night light can be added to, and/or incorporated in, an occupancy sensor which includes the dimmer feature.

A nightlight having a base unit with a central cavity designed to house a light sensor and a printed circuit board. Mounted on the front surface of the base unit is a transversely aligned LED tube. The LED tube is disposed between two struts that extend forward from the front surface of the base unit. Attached to the front surface of the base unit and over the LED tube is a fixed half-spherical lens. Disposed over the lens is a rotating, half-spherical outer cap having an approximately quarter-spherical sized opening that allows a portion of the lens to be exposed so that light from the LED tube may be emitted therethrough. In one embodiment, the present invention pertains to a night light assembly which plugs directly into an electrical wall receptacle to provide a beam of light that can be directed along different paths. The assembly comprises a housing having a plug with projecting blade contacts for insertion into a wall receptacle and a light sensor for automatically controlling the activation and de-activation of the lamp of the nightlight. A cover member rotatably supported by the housing includes a lens, a low wattage lamp, a support member, and a lamp retaining member. The low wattage lamp in the cover assembly is coupled, via sliding contacts, to the blade contacts in the base housing. This arrangement allows the cover and the lamp to be rotated as a unit relative to the base housing without limitation. The lamp retaining member is non-rotatably coupled to the cover and is rotatably engaged by a retaining member fixed to the housing member. The longitudinal axis of the low wattage lamp located in the lamp retaining member is aligned along the rotational axis of the lens in the cover to permit both direct and reflected light to pass through the lens in the cover without being obstructed by the base of the lamp. The disclosed assemblage is a new improved nightlight of simple design which provides increased light and can be manufactured and sold at relatively low cost. The low wattage lamp used in the nightlight can be either an incandescent bulb or a light emitting diode (LED) such as an ultrabright white LED either as a single bulb or a cluster of 2 or more bulbs. A photo sensitive circuit can be provided to automatically energize the incandescent bulb or the LED during low light conditions. When an LED is use as the light source, the LED is energized by a new improved power supply that is both simple in design and more efficient in operation than the standard power supply circuit used for LED's.

A night light comprising a housing with a rotatable bezel mounted thereon. The housing includes a rear wall with electric blades extending outwardly therefrom for engaging in an electrical wall outlet. The bezel is rotatable about a first pivot axis. A LED array is mounted in the bezel and the array is rotatable about a second pivot axis. The second pivot axis is oriented on a different plane to the first pivot axis and preferably lies at ninety degree thereto. When the bezel is rotated about the first pivot axis, the direction of the light emitted from the LED array is changed. Because the bezel can rotate through 360°, the LED array can be rotated through 360° about the first pivot axis. The LED array can be pivoted through an arc of between 160° and 175° about the second pivot axis. The combination of being able to rotationally adjust the position of the bezel on the housing and to adjust the position of the LED array within the bezel allows the individual to control the direction of the light emitted from the night light.
