Distributed speech recognition system and method

A distributed speech recognition system and method thereof in accordance with the present invention enables a word and a natural language to be recognized using detection of a pause period in a speech period in an inputted speech signal, and various groups of recognition vocabulary (for example, a home speech recognition vocabulary, a telematics vocabulary for a vehicle, a vocabulary for call center, and so forth) to be processed in the same speech recognition system by determining the recognition vocabulary required by a corresponding terminal using an identifier of the terminal since various terminals require various speech recognition targets. In addition, various types of channel distortion occurring due to the type of terminal and the recognition environment are minimized by adapting them to a speech database model using a channel estimation method so that the speech recognition performance is enhanced.

Continuous wave based bias method and apparatus for minimizing MOS transistor distortion

A biasing circuit and method for minimizing distortion in a MOS transistor. A first CW source provides a first CW signal at the input of a replica transistor to obtain an output signal at the output of the replica transistor. The output signal is mixed with another CW signal having a frequency equal to N times that of the first CW signal, N being an integer greater than one, to obtain a mixed signal having a DC component with an intensity proportional to the Nth-order distortion present in the output signal. A bias voltage to minimize this distortion is then applied to the input of the original transistor on which the replica transistor is based, the bias voltage determined in accordance with the intensity of the DC component.

Content aware texture mapping on deformable surfaces

A method is disclosed for reducing distortions introduced by deformation of a surface with an existing parameterization. In one embodiment, the distortions are reduced over a user-specified convex region in texture space ensuring optimization is locally contained in areas of interest. A distortion minimization algorithm is presented that is guided by a user-supplied rigidity map of the specified region. In one embodiment, non-linear optimization is used to calculate the axis-aligned deformation of a non-uniform grid specified over the region's parameter space, so that when the space is remapped from the original to the deformed grid, the distortion of the rigid features is minimized. Since grids require minimal storage and the remapping from one grid to another entails minimal cost, grids can be precalculated for animation sequences and used for real-time texture space remapping that minimizes distortions on specified rigid features.

A method, apparatus, and article of manufacture provide the ability to construct an optimal parameterization for a discrete surface patch. A three-dimensional image having a surface is selected. An initial parameterization of the surface onto a two-dimensional plane is constructed. A distortion of the initial parameterization is measured. A length parameter, an area parameter, and an angle parameter are specified. The initial parameterization is then optimized through a discrete deformation of a parameter domain that minimizes the distortion based on the length, area, and angle parameter.

Three-terminal Variable Capacitor

A novel semiconductor variable capacitor is presented. The semiconductor structure is simple and is based on a semiconductor variable MOS capacitor structure suitable for integrated circuits, which has at least three terminals, one of which is used to modulate the equivalent capacitor area of the MOS structure by increasing or decreasing its DC voltage with respect to another terminal of the device, in order to change the capacitance over a wide ranges of values. Furthermore, the present invention decouples the AC signal and the DC control voltage minimizing the distortion and increasing the performance of the device, such as its control characteristic. The present invention is simple and only slightly dependent on the variations due to the fabrication process. It exhibits a high value of capacitance density and, if opportunely implemented, shows a quasi linear dependence of the capacitance value with respect to the voltage of its control terminal.

An adaptive channel equalization technique and method for wideband passive receivers is disclosed that reduces and tends to minimize distortions caused by circuitry within passive digital receivers. This equalization architecture provides an adaptive equalization solution for a wideband passive channel that receives unknown signals from the RF environment both temporally and spectrally. A wideband chirp signal or calibration signal is periodically injected to capture the spectral response of the receiver channel as it varies from the distortions induced over time and temperature for synthesis of equalization filter coefficients. Thus, the channel equalization is performed independent of receiver signal source and is employed to minimize digital receiver signal measurement distortions across the passband by providing an equalization filter whose magnitude and phase response compensates for the channel distortions of the passive data collection system.

Method for allocating optimal rate for multi-rate multicast transport of multi-view video streams

The invention provides a method for allocating the optimal rate for multi-rate multicast transport of multi-view video streams. The idea of the method includes that control for multiple rates and multi-path routes and control for network flow of relay nodes in transport of the multi-view video streams are subjected to joint optimization, and a transport sequence of viewpoints and frames is taken into consideration when the optimal multicast transport path is selected and the video stream transport rates are allocated for the various viewpoints. Accordingly, on the one hand, a proper transport network is searched for each video stream, and distortion of nodes of all users needing the viewpoints is minimized; and on the other hand, requirements of the users on definition of the viewpoints and dependence on decoding among the frames are met simultaneously. Besides, original convex optimization is analyzed and solved by a Lagrange duality method, resources are optimally distributed, and distributed solving operation is facilitated. The method has the advantages that bandwidth resources of the networks can be effectively utilized, integral distortion is minimized for all the users in heterogenous network environments, and high video quality is provided for user sides.
