Ventilation airflow rate control

Airflow rates within a ventilation system are controlled using motor speed or torque and motor electric current or pressure. Fan speed or torque may be varied to compensate for differing restriction in ductwork, and may provide a constant airflow rate over a range of varying airflow restriction. Air handlers or air conditioning units may be mass produced in common configurations, and installed in different buildings or structures with different ductwork configurations. Methods operate a fan motor at a present speed or torque, sample speed or torque, sample current of the fan motor or pressure within the ventilation system, calculate a present airflow rate within the ventilation system, calculate a new input setting using the present airflow rate and a target airflow rate, change the speed or torque to the new input setting, and repeat these steps to converge on the target airflow rate, often avoiding overshoot.

Managing vehicle velocity

Techniques or systems for managing vehicle velocity are provided herein. For example, a system for managing vehicle velocity may receive slope information associated with a driving environment of a vehicle. This slope information may be obtained by cross-referencing a global positioning system (GPS) location of the vehicle with a slope database, which may be used to map the GPS location to corresponding slope information. The GPS location may be obtained from an on-board GPS unit or a third-party GPS device, such as a GPS component of a mobile device. The system may retrieve a current velocity associated with the vehicle and adjust a velocity of a vehicle accordingly, such as by accelerating or decelerating the vehicle. The system may calculate an estimated velocity based on the current velocity and the slope information. In this way, vehicle velocity may be managed or controlled.

Speed limit indicator and method for displaying speed and the relevant speed limit

Speed limit indicators and methods for determining speed, the relevant speed limit, and displaying same make it easy for the driver of a vehicle to compare his current speed with the legal limit for the location in which he is traveling. This eliminates the need for the driver to take his eyes off the road to look for speed limit signs, thereby reducing the chance of an accident, and resolves any confusion that might exist as to what the current legal limit is. An audible warning of excessive speed reduces the amount of time the driver needs to spend examining the speedometer.
