91 results about "Available light" patented technology

In photography and cinematography, available light or ambient light refers to any source of light that is not explicitly supplied by the photographer for the purpose of taking photos. The term usually refers to sources of light that are already available naturally (e.g. the sun, moon, lightning) or artificial light already being used (e.g. to light a room). It generally excludes flashes, although arguably flash lighting provided by other photographers shooting simultaneously in the same space could be considered available light. Light sources that affect the scene and are included in the actual frame are called practical light sources, or simply practicals.

Cap with underside light

A combination baseball or visor style cap and light assembly wherein in one embodiment the light assembly can be at least partially recessed in the underside of the bill so that the cap appears substantially unaltered in its aesthetic appearance. In one embodiment the light source can be a high intensity LED similar to those used in miniature flashlights and can be furnished in 3 mm or 5 mm size designations (however, any commercially available light source may be used).

Vacuum ultraviolet referencing reflectometer

A spectroscopy system is provided which operates in the vacuum ultraviolet spectrum. More particularly, a system utilizing reflectometry techniques in the vacuum ultraviolet spectrum is provided for use in metrology applications. To ensure accurate and repeatable measurement, the environment of the optical path is controlled to limit absorption effects of gases that may be present in the optical path. To account for absorption effects that may still occur, the length of the optical path is minimized. To further account for absorption effects, the reflectance data may be referenced to a relative standard. Referencing is particularly advantageous in the VUV reflectometer due to the low available photon flux and the sensitivity of recorded data to the composition of the gaseous medium contained with the optical path. Thus, errors that may be introduced by changes in the controlled environment may be reduced. In one exemplary embodiment, the VUV reflectometer may utilize a technique in which a beam splitter is utilized to create a sample beam and a reference beam to form the two arms of a near balanced Mach Zehnder interferometer. In another exemplary embodiment, the reference channel may be comprised of a Michelson interferometer.

P and N contact pad layout designs of GaN based LEDs for flip chip packaging

Based on the unique properties of the flip chip packaging process and GaN based LEDs with transparent substrates, new principles and methods for designing the layout of P contact pads and N contact pads are disclosed. The new designs of the present invention drastically increase the light extraction efficiency of LEDs by reducing the current crowding effect, increasing the uniformity of the spreading current in the active layer, and utilizing most of the available light emitting semiconductor material of the active layer. The present invention combined with the flip chip packaging process significantly improves the LEDs' heat dissipation.

Digital still camera, imaging method, and exposure decision method

A digital still camera has a function to perform first and second exposures in a single imaging sequence. In the first exposure, imaging conditions are determined to obtain proper exposure amount of the background with available light. Then, the second exposure is carried out with the flashlight to illuminate the main subject. The photographic sensitivity, the shutter speed, and the aperture value for the second exposure are determined such that the exposure value in the second exposure is under-exposure by two steps or more, compared to that in the first exposure. Images obtained by first and second exposures are synthesized to obtain a composite image.

Virtual electronic music teaching apparatus and operation information inputting method thereof

The invention relates to virtual electronic music teaching equipment and an operation information input method thereof. The virtual electronic music teaching equipment comprises the following hardware: a photoelectric fescue, a laser lamp, a sensor array, a computer, a projector, a projection screen, an MIDI sound source board and sound making equipment. An industry control case is adopted to be convenient for mobile teaching, and the one-time investment cost is low. The common musical instruments are simulated on the projection screen through the projector, and the virtual electronic music teaching is performed by dint of the photoelectric fescue and the laser lamp and in combination with teaching software. Besides inputting information through a mouse and a keyboard, a teacher can also approach or contact the target with the photoelectric fescue, lighten a high brightness photoelectric indicating lamp, or indicate the target through the laser lamp; the sensor array captures the bright spots generated by the photoelectric fescue or the laser lamp as the operation information to replace the click and double-click function of the mouse, the position of the bright spots is corresponding to the position of the arrow of the mouse, and the brightening and the darkening of the bright spots are corresponding to the pressing and the bouncing of the key of the mouse. The invention has the advantages that various music teaching is integrated into a whole, the operation is flexible and convenient, the images can be displayed visually, and the invention is suitable for primary music teaching.

Method and apparatus for cultivating organisms

A bioreactor for growing organisms such as microalgae, includes a container having a parabolic cross section for carrying a culture medium for the organism. A generally triangular flow director in the bottom center of the container with a tube at its top end contains openings for directing fluid such as a growth medium under pressure upwardly into the culture medium to create laminar flow of the culture medium in counter rotating paths of travel on opposite sides of the flow director. Thus, thorough mixing of the culture medium and organism is achieved. The present invention provides a bioreactor system which ensures continuous, thorough mixing of organisms such as microalgae, growth medium and nutrients, and constant changing of the areas or zones of the biomass and movement to the available light, resulting in an enhanced growth environment for the organisms.

Electric variable-diaphragm light regulating mechanism

The invention relates to an electric variable-diaphragm light regulating mechanism mounted on an optical instrument. The electric variable-diaphragm light regulating mechanism comprises a fixed base and a light diaphragm which are arranged coaxially, wherein a driven gear is arranged between the fixed base and the light diaphragm and can axially rotate between the fixed base and the light diaphragm; through holes, which are used for enabling a light path to pass through, are separately formed in the center of the fixed base and the center of the driven gear; a driving motor is mounted on the external circumference of the fixed base, and an output end of the driving motor is connected with a driving gear engaged with the driven gear; a shift lever which is used for regulating a light through aperture is arranged on the external circumference of the light diaphragm; a shifting block is fixedly mounted on the driven gear, and a through hole which is used for fixing the shift lever is formed in the shifting block. The electric variable-diaphragm light regulating mechanism is assembled on the basis of the existing light diaphragm structure, and a commercially available light diaphragm can be directly adopted, so that the processing is convenient, the production cost is low, and the applicable range is wide.
