Framework for providing a configurable firewall for computing systems

A configurable firewall for computing systems is disclosed. The configurable firewall provides a firewall control block that can be used as a mechanism to implement and control access privileges between various components of the computing environment. As such, the firewall control block can be used to determine whether one component (e.g., applet) can access another component in the computing environment. This allows a flexible environment where firewall boundaries can be configured in such a way that each applet can allow access to a desired set of other applets. In addition, the control block can be implemented using a variety of techniques that may be suitable for different system requirements (e.g., processing speed, memory). As such, the configurable firewall is useful for implementing security for various computing systems, especially those that operate with relatively limited processing power and / or provide highly specialized functionality (e.g., smart cards).

System and method of interactive design of a product

A system for interactive design a product having a design solution which includes a design parameter and a design response includes a user computer system and a remotely located computer system in communication with the user computer system. The system also includes a computer- generated geometric model of a product design stored in a data storage means. The system further includes a statistical analysis software program implemented by the remotely located computer system and a computer aided engineering software program implemented by the remotely located computer system. The method is implemented by an executable product design software program, and includes the steps of identifying an ideal design solution for the product design by identifying an unnecessary design parameter having a predetermined significant influence on a variable design response and fixing a predetermined nominal value of the identified unnecessary design parameter at which the variable design response is a minimum and the product design is an uncoupled design or a decoupled design. The method also includes the steps of selecting a most robust ideal design solution from the identified ideal design solution that is the most uncoupled design or the most decoupled design. The method further includes the steps of optimizing the most robust ideal design solution to obtain a pareto-optimal design solution for use in the design of the product that includes a design parameter having an independent design response.

Irrigated electrophysiology catheter with distinguishable electrodes for multi-electrode identification and orientation under 2-d visualization

An electrophysiology catheter is disclosed having a balloon with a membrane. Electrodes may be disposed on the membrane. Each electrode may include a radiopaque marker. The markers may have different forms, e.g., alphanumeric or polygonal, to facilitate visualization of the electrodes using a bi-stable image and allow for selection of the appropriate electrodes to be energized during ablation of tissue. The inventive subject matter allows for proper orientation of electrodes on the balloon under a two-dimensional imaging system. This allows the operator or physician to determine if certain electrodes are adjacent or contiguous to the posterior surface of the left atrium and ablate such posterior surface for shorter duration or at a lower power to create an effective transmural lesion on the posterior wall of the left atrium while reducing the chances of damaging the adjacent anatomical structures.

3-Point Wheelchair Passenger Securement System

The embodiments described and claimed herein are improved wheelchair passenger securement systems and stations. In particular, one embodiment described and claimed herein is a system comprising a barrier module and a wall-side module, which incorporate three separate restraint devices which are configured to secure a wheelchair at three separate attachment points. The system can optionally include a moveable excursion barrier or a pull-mechanism to pre-tension at least one of the restraint devices the wheelchair securements. In a simpler embodiment, three restraint devices, such as retractors, are provided for attachment to the vehicle surfaces or structures in, for example, a generally right-triangular configuration.

Query builder using context sensitive grids

A method and system for providing a query builder for at least one query language is disclosed. The method and system include providing a plurality of grids and at least one resource for a grid set including at least one of the plurality of grids. The grids correspond to a plurality of functional units of the query language(s). The grid set corresponds to one of the functional units. The resource(s) correspond to the functional unit and to the grid set. The resource(s) are capable of being used as at least one argument for the grid set.

Trimmer head for a vegetation cutting machine

The invention relates to a trimmer head for a vegetation cutting machine, comprising:a body (1) adapted to be coupled to a driving shaft of the vegetation cutting machine so as to cause said body to rotate about a rotation axis (X),at least one rod (12) comprising at least one retaining portion intended to hold a cutting filament in a determined direction, wherein the body (1) comprises a housing for receiving each end (122, 123) of said rod (12) such that the rod axis (Y) is perpendicular to the rotation axis (X) of the body (1) and substantially tangential to the rotational path of the body (1), said housing and said ends of the rod being having respective shapes allowing at least two relative orientations of the rod with respect to the body:(i) a first orientation wherein the determined direction of the filament is substantially parallel to the rotation axis (X) of the body, and(ii) a second orientation wherein the determined direction of the filament is substantially radial and substantially perpendicular to the rotation axis (X) of the body.

Chromogenic test kit for detecting health conditions in saliva

A device and method for detecting diseases, disorders and health conditions in saliva or other body fluid. The method employs solid phase immunoassay and similar detecting processes along with one of several bioluminescent reactions such that the presence of specific biomarkers is reported visually on a chromogenic panel incorporated directly into the test kit. The device does not require electricity or refrigeration, and results in a small, sealed diagnostic packet that can be safely discarded or stored as necessary.
