Snap in place gasket for sealing plastic pipelines and method of installation

A pipe sealing gasket is shown which is designed to be received within a groove provided within a belled, socket end of a plastic pipe. The groove in the plastic pipe is preformed during manufacture and the gasket is installed thereafter. The gasket nominal diameter exceeds the internal diameter of the belled pipe end. A special installation tool is used to pull the gasket from an initially deformed, elliptical shape to a normal cylindrical shape. The installation tool uses only one fluid cylinder for power and can be hand installed and operated.

Continuous web stress distribution measurement sensor

A pressure sensor is wound in a helical pattern around a roller for providing a continuous measurement of the stress distribution within a material passing over the roller. The sensor may be a fluid filled tube having a pressure sensor at one end, or may be a piezoelectric ribbon. As the material passes over the roller, it is always applying pressure to one portion of the sensor. By monitoring the angular position of the roller, the points at which stress is being measured across the width of the material is known. The stress distribution may then be used to determine the flatness of the material passing over the roller.

A device for blow molding or blow drawing of containers made of thermoplastic performs. The molding device is movable, mainly rotatable and includes at least one wallet-type mold provided with two mold-halves rotatable with respect to each other around an axis; two links which are connected to each other by one of the extremities thereof with the aid of a first pivot pin and pivotally connected to two mold-halves by the other extremities thereof on both sides of the common pivoting axis thereof; actuation devices which are connected to the first pivot pin and provided with at least one cam follower interacting with at least one respective fixed cam so that the first pivot pin is moved in a direction toward the mold or away therefrom, thereby opening or closing the mold. A compensating device acts so that at least one cam follower permanently contacts the respective cam.

Method for adjusting the switch-gap between the contact tongues of a reeds switch

The invention relates to a method for adjusting the switch-gap between the overlapping metal tongues of a reed switch contained in a glass envelope, in which a beam of radiation energy is directed through the envelope onto a localised area of at least one of the tongues for a specific period of time, thereby effecting thermally-induced bending of the tongue in question about the irradiated area, wherein a radiation source is used which delivers radiation energy having a wavelength in a range in which the radiation is absorbed by the glass envelope to a considerable extent, and wherein the beam of radiation energy is focussed and measured in such a manner that the proportion between the irradiated glass volume of the envelope and the irradiated metal area of at least one of the tongues that is obtained is such that the temperature of the glass undergoes a temperature increase of less than 100 Kelvin during the time required for heating the metal to the melting point.

A cam follower unit comprising a tappet, a roller adapted to cooperate with a cam, the roller being mounted rotatably on a pin which is mounted in holes provided on two lateral ears of the tappet, the pin being retained in the tappet, in the longitudinal direction of the pin, by elastic spring retainers mounted against the ends of the pin, inside the holes of the lateral ears. The elastic spring retainers comprise a central portion adapted to be in contact with ends of the pin, the central portion defining a plane perpendicular to the central axis of the pin, and a peripheral portion adapted to exert a radial elastic force against an internal wall of the circular holes. The peripheral portion extends outwardly from the central portion and away from the pin along directions inclined with respect to the plane defined by the central portion.

Method for Steam Reforming Carbonaceous Material

ActiveUS20080112882A1Easy to convertHigh H2/CO ratioProductsReagentsSteam reformingSyngas
A method for steam reforming carbonaceous material into a synthesis gas by using a single stage process of heating the carbonaceous material in a rotary kiln at an elevated reforming temperature so that the carbonaceous material undergoes substantially complete conversion to synthesis gas or by using a dual stream, multiple-stage process of heating carbonaceous material to a reforming temperature, below that at which metallic materials will typically vaporize, to form gaseous and solid materials; further reforming the gaseous materials in a second stage reforming kiln at an elevated reforming temperature to form synthesis gas; and separating carbon char from the solid material for further processing.
