System and method for coordinating travel itineraries

A method for coordinating outbound and inbound itineraries for a plurality of travelers is provided. Such a method comprises receiving a destination location, a plurality of origin locations, and travel information, wherein each origin location is associated with at least one traveler. A set of suggested outbound and inbound itineraries between each origin location and the destination location is then determined, based upon the travel information, from a travel database comprising at least outbound and inbound itineraries between the origin locations and the destination location, wherein each suggested outbound and inbound itinerary comprises an arrival time and a departure time with respect to the destination location, and the set of suggested outbound and inbound itineraries collectively provides an optimal time together of the travelers at the destination location. Associated systems and methods are also provided.

An object identification system includes a monitor and a plurality of transceivers that communicate over a common medium. The monitor includes a first transmitter, a first receiver, and a processor. Each transceiver includes a resonant circuit, a transmitter, a receiver, and an antenna coupled to the resonant circuit. The processor performs a method for performing transceiver communication that includes the steps of: (a) transmitting from the first transmitter a first frequency for a first duration; (b) after lapse of the first duration, receiving via the first receiver a response signal from at least one of the resonant circuits; (c) determining a second frequency from the received response signal; and (d) performing transceiver communication using the second frequency. Transceivers of the type having a resonant circuit coupled to an antenna, when operating in close proximity to each other, may interfere with the response from a single transceiver by absorbing the energy intended to be received by the transceiver, absorbing the energy transmitted by the transceiver, or altering the resonant frequency of the resonant circuit. By determining the second frequency for transceiver communication, the monitor may establish communication with the single transceiver at a frequency better suited for transferring operative power to the transceiver, conducting an interrogation protocol for identifying the transceiver, or for data transfer.

Aircraft weight and balance system

Dynamic aircraft / vehicle specific load planning and weight balancing systems and methods are used to automate the process of weighing passengers and their baggage, including carry-on baggage, to accurately and quickly determine the passenger and passenger baggage location on a specific aircraft / vehicle to generate an efficient and precise aircraft load plan and provide data to determine loaded aircraft weight and balance. Digital scale(s) and passenger ticket / boarding pass scanner(s) are used to acquire the weight and location data, which can be fed to a processor to process the data to determine appropriate weight and balance for each flight and / or transmit data to other systems to be included in their determination of vehicle weight and weight distribution / balance.

Telescopic gun sight windage correction system

A improved telescopic gun sight includes a telescopic gun sight at least including an adjustable lens configuration for adjustably magnifying an external object to form an object image, an inverting tube for inverting the object image, an ocular lens array for presenting the object image for viewing, a primary reticule including sighting insignia imprinted thereon and a secondary reticule being movable both horizontally and vertically in the image plane. The secondary reticule includes a generally horizontal windage correction scale operative to provide instant windage correction target alignment. It includes instant windage correction target alignment values positioned at point-specific spaced-apart locations with specific instant windage correction target alignment values corresponding to selected distance amounts calculated for a selected bullet type and weight.

Method and apparatus for automatic pin detection in microarray spotting instruments

A method and apparatus are provided for automatically sensing the presence (or absence) of spot dispensers such as pins in various possible mounting locations in the printhead of a microarray spotting instrument. Pin-location data obtained by the method and apparatus is provided to the computer controller of the instrument, which uses the data to control the motion of the printhead during operation of the instrument. A pin detection apparatus includes one or more sensor elements that automatically sense possible pin locations in the printhead for the presence of pins. The sensor elements are preferably arranged in an array corresponding to the array of pin locations in the printhead so that pin detection at each pin location can be performed simultaneously. Various types of sensor elements can be used to locate pins in a printhead. For example, sensors can be used that are remote from or attached to a printhead. Pin sensors can be used that sense pin locations from various positions relative to the printhead including above or below the printhead. Also, pin sensing can be by contact or non-contact mechanisms. The method and apparatus allow pin positions in a printhead to be quickly and accurately determined, and without significant risk of damaging the pins, which are fragile.

Lane Determining Device and Navigation System

Provided is a lane determining device that is capable of quickly and accurately determining the lane traveled by a host vehicle traveling on a road with a plurality of lanes in each direction. A lane determining device that determines the lane traveled by the host vehicle traveling on a road with a plurality of lanes in each direction comprises: road geometry obtaining means that obtains road geometry; imaging means that images the road; division line recognition means that recognizes a division line from an image imaged by the imaging means; first path computation means that computes a path of the host vehicle by repeatedly computing a distance from the division line recognized by the division line recognition means to the imaging means; second path computation means that computes a path of the host vehicle based on the road geometry obtained by the road geometry obtaining means and on autonomous navigation; third path computation means that computes a path of the host vehicle based on a first path computed by the first path computation means and on a second path computed by the second path computation means; and traveled lane determination means that determines the lane traveled by the host vehicle based on a third path computed by the third path computation means.
