Methods of imaging objects based on wavelet retrieval of scenes utilize wavelet transformation of plural defined regions of a query image. By increasing the granularity of the query image to greater than one region, accurate feature vectors are obtained that allow for robust extraction of corresponding regions from a database of target images. The methods further include the use of sliding windows to decompose the query and target images into regions, and the clustering of the regions utilizing a novel similarity metric that ensures robust image matching in low response times.

Method and apparatus for generating an OPC segmentation based on modeled intensity gradients

One embodiment of the invention provides a system that dissects edges of a layout of an integrated circuit to produce a segmentation of the layout for a subsequent optical proximity correction (OPC) operation. In order to perform the dissection, the system first performs a model-based simulation on the layout to generate intensity gradients along edges of features in the layout. Next, the system generates a segmentation for edges in the layout based upon the intensity gradients. This segmentation is used during a subsequent optical proximity correction (OPC) process to generate corrections for the layout so that the layout prints more accurately on a semiconductor chip.

Wearable cardioverter defibrillator (WCD) with power-saving function

A Wearable Cardioverter Defibrillator (WCD) system has a processor that performs two different analyses to an ECG of the patient. A first-level analysis can be computationally economical, while a fuller second-level analysis can give shock / no-shock advice with more certainty. In some of these embodiments the second-level analysis of the ECG is performed only if the first-level analysis of the ECG detects a possible shockable condition. As such, the first-level analysis may operate as a gatekeeping function, often preventing the more computationally intensive second-level analysis from being performed. An advantage can be that the WCD system needs to store less charge, for powering the processor. In turn, this permits portions of the WCD system to be less bulky and weigh less.

Adaptive wind estimation, trajectory generation, and flight control for aerial systems using motion data is provided. The adaptive wind estimation approach may be implemented using onboard computing power, may rapidly converge to true values, may be computationally inexpensive, and may not require any specific hardware or specific vehicle maneuvers for the convergence. There may be no prior knowledge of the wind field, using the motion of the aircraft itself rather than wind sensors. The algorithm may include three blocks. An identification / estimation block may identify aerodynamic drag coefficients in still-air flight and estimate the wind components in moving and variable air flight. A navigation block may generate feasible trajectories, taking into account the estimated wind field. A control block may generate motor / engine thrust commands necessary to track the generated trajectories while compensating for the wind disturbance.
