Conveyor lubricant, passivation of a thermoplastic container to stress cracking and thermoplastic stress crack inhibitor

Thermally formed thermoplastic articles can be protected from stress cracking in the presence of stress cracking promoting compounds by forming a shaped article comprising a thermoplastic and a liquid hydrocarbon oil composition. We have found that the liquid hydrocarbon oil composition prevents the stress cracking promoting materials from interacting with the polymeric structure of the stressed container to prevent or inhibit stress cracking in such materials. The methods and compositions of the invention are particularly useful in preventing stress cracking in polyethylene terephthalate beverage containers during bottling operations during which the bottle is contacted with aqueous and non-aqueous materials such as cleaners and lubricants that can interact with the polyester to cause stress cracking particularly in the container base. A process for lubricating a container, such as a beverage container, or a conveyor for containers, by applying to the container or conveyor, a thin continuous, substantially non-dripping layer of a liquid lubricant. The process provides many advantages compared to the use of a conventional dilute aqueous lubricant.

Perfluoropolyether Oil Composition

A perfluoropolyether oil composition, which comprises a perfluoropolyether base oil, preferably a thickener-containing perfluoropolyether base oil, and a fluorine-containing di- or mono-amide-based compound having a perfluoropolyether group, where 0.01 to 50% by weight of the amide-based compound, based on total weight of the base oil and the amide-based compound, is contained when the perfluoropolyether oil composition is used as a lubricating oil composition, particularly grease, and 0.01 to 90% by weight thereof is contained, when the perfluoropolyether oil composition is used as an electrode-coating agent for a cell. The perfluoropolyether oil composition shows a metal surface protective action against corrosive gases such as sulfide gases, etc. without deteriorating the abrasion resistance, and also shows a distinguished high temperature durability even in the presence of graphite or molybdenum disulfide. Furthermore, creeping-up of the electrolytic solution along the electrodes or leakage thereof can be suppressed only by its coating onto the electrode surfaces in the cell.

Sliding resin composition

A sliding resin composition is provided which rapidly forms a transfer adhesion film of PTFE on the surface of a counter member at the initial stage of sliding. That is, in the case of using resin composition 1 which is in such a state that particles of PTFE 3 having PTFE film forming agent 4 embedded are dispersed in synthetic resin 2, when the surface of particles of PTFE 3 on the sliding surface of resin composition 1 contacts with the surface of an associated shaft, the PTFE film forming agent 4 is also present at the contact portion, whereby transfer adhesion of PTFE 3 to the surface of the associated shaft is accelerated and thus the time required for decrease of coefficient of friction can be shortened.

Lubricant with non-terminal functional groups

Lubricant with non-terminal functional groups. The location of the functional groups minimizes free chain length and molecular weight of a lubricant while simultaneously maximizing evaporation temperature. The locations of the functional groups to the backbone of the molecule of the lubricant allows for shorter lengths of free backbone length between functional groups attached to a lubricated surface. The lubricant lubricates mechanical devices including hard disk drives. The lubricant can also be added to media or other mechanical parts in conjunction with other lubricants.
