Wetness Indicator Having Varied Hues

A wetness indicator material may be used on a substrate to form a wetness sensor. The sensor may show either the presence or absence of an aqueous-based fluid or water-containing medium, such as vaginal fluid or urine in a personal hygiene article. The wetness sensor may be incorporated into the article. The wetness indicator material includes a standard colorant that does not change color when wetted. The standard colorant increases the range of hues exhibited by the wetness indicator material.

Water contract indicator

The present invention discloses an adhesive article. The adhesive article comprises a first layer comprising a transparent film, the first layer having a first major surface and a second major surface. Additionally, the adhesive article comprises a second layer comprising a fluid transport substrate, the second layer having a first major surface and a second major surface, the first major surface of the second layer being in contact with the second major surface of the first layer and a third layer comprising a fluid transportable ink, the third layer being associated with the second major surface of the second layer. The adhesive article then comprises an adhesive layer.

Irreversible humidity exposure dose indicator device

An irreversible humidity exposure dose indicator device, including a housing sealed at a first end thereof and adapted at a second end thereof to admit ambient gas ingress into an interior volume containing chromogenic material. The chromogenic material in contact with water irreversibly absorbs such water to produce a change whose extent is correlative of cumulative exposure of the device to humidity. The device may be configured as an indicator card including an intermediate permeable membrane coated on a first side thereof with a layer of a deliquescent solid and being in contact on a second side thereof with a layer containing a reactive indicator, with a water-permeable layer adjacent to the layer containing the deliquescent coating, enclosed within a water-impermeable transparent enclosure. The device can include an opening to the permeable layer that is shielded by a removable member that is removed to initiate the dosimetric process, and permit water vapor to diffuse through the opening and liquefy the deliquescent material, so that the liquid permeates through the membrane and a visible indication of the location of the wet front is seen as the water contacts the chromogenic material. A scale can be printed on the exterior of the enclosure to permit a viewer to see the progress of the indication, e, g. of a color front.

Moisture sensor

A moisture sensor is disclosed which measures cumulative exposure to moisture. The moisture sensor comprises a matrix having a hygroscopic material, a first reagent, and a second reagent which interact only in the presence of water to produce a detectable, irreversible change in the matrix to provide a moisture indication. The moisture sensor may be incorporated with a disposable diagnostic device, whereby a method for preventing the use of such a disposable diagnostic device if exposed to excessive cumulative humidity is also disclosed.

Low cost humidity and mold indicator for buildings

A low-cost, easily manufactured humidity and mold indicator for buildings that incorporates a one-piece transparent plastic injection-molded body. Appearance of a warning icon or a change in color alerts the owners or occupants of a building to a hidden leak and thereby prevents costly structural damage, cosmetic damage and mold damage to building components. The indicator is easily inserted and secured into a drilled hole in panel such as a wall or soffit. In one embodiment, the indicator snaps into place after being fully inserted into the panel. In another embodiment, a retainer inserted into the hole holds the indicator enabling easier removal of the indicator for replacement or for inspection of the area behind the panel. An optional removable cap can be painted the same color as the wall. An optional mask covers the integral viewing window during painting of the device.

Post-steam sterilization moisture-indicating methods and articles

Methods for detecting moisture are described. The methods include sequential steps: (a) subjecting an article comprising a reversible moisture-indicating medium to steam sterilization in a steam sterilizer to produce a sterilized article; (b) subjecting the sterilized article to drying to reduce moisture in the sterilized article; (c) removing the sterilized article from the steam sterilizer; and (d) determining the level of moisture in the sterilized article after step (c) based on at least one property of the moisture-indicating medium. Packages comprising reversible steam-sterilization-compatible moisture-indicating media, including post-steam sterilization wet pack indicators, are also described
