Communication device

Provided is a wireless transmitter-receiver capable of suppressing undesirable power consumption and elongating the continuous operation time by operation of a user with the intention of controlling transmission power and also suitable to secure the “symmetry of communication”.The wireless transmitter-receiver decreases the upper limit value of transmission power by an operation of an operation means 114 and decreases the reception sensitivity in accordance with the decreased upper limit value of transmission power. Thereby, a user can determine the upper limit value of transmission power of the wireless transmitter-receiver and manage the transmission power to suppress power consumption and elongate a continuous operation time. Moreover, the wireless transmitter-receiver can eliminate the influence of radio frequency electromagnetic field on a human body. Furthermore, the degree of imbalance in the “symmetry of communication” can be minimized.

The present invention provides a method and system for estimating common amplitude and phase errors of a multiple channel wireless system. The multiple channel wireless system includes a plurality of transmission channels formed between a plurality of transmission antennas and a plurality of receiver antennas. The method includes estimating transmission channel elements between each transmission antenna and receiver antenna pair of the multiple channel wireless system. Calibration symbols are transmitted from each transmit antenna. Signals are received that correspond to the calibration symbols having traveled through the transmission channels. Received calibration symbols are estimated based upon spatial processing of the received signals and the estimated transmission channel elements. Common amplitude and phase errors are estimated for each transmit and receive antenna pair by comparing the transmitted calibration symbols with the received calibration symbols.

Vehicle interaction communication system

The information available to a driver of a vehicle is greatly expanded using wireless communications (e.g., using Bluetooth wireless communication devices). In one embodiment, information regarding an adjacent vehicle such as a brake light, a turn light, speed, distance, direction, etc., is transmitted from one vehicle to a nearby or adjacent other vehicle. The received information is used in any appropriate manner, such as causing the receiving vehicle to change vehicle speed or brake, to turn to avoid a collision, etc. In a second embodiment, roadside wireless transceivers collect information regarding passing vehicles, and central database is compiled relating to a traffic conditions. The traffic condition information can be passed back to the passing vehicles for appropriate use, e.g., causing the driver to slow down, or even causing a navigation device in the receiving vehicle to manually prompt for or automatically recalculate a best route to an intended destination. In yet another embodiment, broadcast transmitters can be established at signs and other significant locations transmitting information to passing vehicles. The broadcast information may be as simple as indicating the existence of the sign, or depending upon the range of the particular wireless transmitter, the existence of a particular sign, bump in road, curve, etc., can be forewarned far in advance of when the driver will actually see the relevant object. Alternatively, the broadcast information may be quite detailed, e.g., containing a detailed itemization and directions to a large number of gas stations, restaurants, etc., reachable from a particular exit from a highway.
