A system and method of operating a computer to perform risk and decision analysis of an engineering design change in a product are provided. The method includes the steps of displaying a list of change drivers that are causing the engineering design changes and receiving a selection of a change driver from a user, displaying a set of questions soliciting general cost information associated with the engineering design change, and displaying a set of questions soliciting change driver-specific information associated with the selected change driver. The method then receives answers to the set of general cost questions from the user, and also receives answers to the set of change driver-specific questions from the user. The method then computes an expected value associated with the engineering design change using the answers saved in memory, a value associated with not implementing the engineering design change using the change driver-specific answers saved in memory, and then compares the computer expected value with the value from not making the change to generate a recommendation of whether the engineering design change should be implemented in response to the comparison.

A digital broadcasting system capable of causing any of physical channels selected by a broadcaster to be received as one of the channels available to users which is different from the physical channel selected by the broadcaster. For each of programs of each of the channels available to said users, a program information record comprising PSI (program specific information) is stored in a data base. The method includes storing, in response to a use request, at least one content file that includes first and second program segments that are spliced to form a single program. At least one index file is created and stored. The file index includes program specific information associated with the first and second program segments. The index file also includes an identification of a splice point denoting a transition between the first and second program segments. In addition, a splice index is created and stored. The splice index includes timing information specifying a time at which the splice point occurs.

A method for parsing EIT parsing and providing program specific information of broadcasting programs at a rapid speed. The method includes the steps of: extracting the EITs from a program specific information signal sequence in a transport stream packet transmitted from a broadcasting station; parsing each the EIT in a prescribed priority order in the EITs; and displaying the parsed EIT on a TV screen. A device and method for receiving and transmitting digital multimedia broadcasting is disclosed. This invention relates to a MPEG-2 single program transmission stream (TS) multiplexing method, which multiplexes the multiple single program TS to a multi-program TS to be output, first of all, the program specific information (PSI) and a transmission rate collection unit pre-processes the signals taking part in the multiplexing, extracts PAT, PMY and essential stream (ES) public packet identifying symbol(PID) information and gets the transmission code rate of each TS based on PAT-PMT-ES hierarchies, then, the reconstruction and re-map unit of PIS reconstructs the PSI information and re-maps the PCR-PID of each audio-video PID and the program reference clock to enable the decoding end to identify the programs in TS after multiplexing and obtaining correct clock information. The invention provides a low delay method for multiplexing a transport stream in real time, which includes the steps: audio-video basic data is packed into a packing elementary stream PES; then, the PES is packed into a TS packet; PSI data of program specific information is generated; after the PES packing and the TS packing of ES data of frame video and ES data of the audio in the corresponding time are completed, an audio TS packet and a video TS packet are uniformly put into a buffer output by the transport stream and at the same time reference PCR information of a program clock is updated; when the multiplexing of a video ES stream of a GOP, according to transmission rate of the transport stream and data quantity of the GOP, an empty packet is filled in the output buffer to output the transport stream with constant bit rate. The present invention relates to method for recording program specific information (PSI) for a recorded data stream in an optical disk such as a high-density digital versatile disk (HD-DVD) and providing the recorded PSI to a presenting device such as a digital television. This method writes program or stream specific information in a management data recording area of a high-density disk, and when the recorded data stream is reproduced, determines whether it is time to send the stream specific information, obtains stream specific information corresponding to a stream object being reproduced, or to be reproduced based on the determination result, and transmits the obtained stream specific information. This method can maintain the disk storage capacity for real video and/or audio data by recording stream specific information in a management recording area of a high-density disk, and provide the stream specific information to a digital television promptly when it is necessary, thereby reducing the time duration of blank screen or discontinuity in video and/or audio presentation.

A system and method for extracting and routing audio-visual programs from transport stream packets includes a program identifier (PID) distributor capable of extracting program specific information (PSI) from the transport stream packets, a plurality of process paths each including an audio video stream encapsulate circuit (AVSEC) capable of encapsulating each packet of each Audio-Visual (AV) program in data packets of a predetermined format, a switching device capable of routing the encapsulated AV program packets to user pathways, and a processing device capable of parsing the PSI to identify AV programs therein and configuring the other routing system elements. Dynamic management of data flow is enabled, thus data routing is made more efficient and is readily customized to the needs of user networks at any time, and significantly, because AV programs are processed in parallel by dedicated processing paths, processing device burden and memory usage are reduced.

In a recording apparatus, data received as an MPEG-2 transport stream, for example from a digital broadcast or by playback of data in the D-VHS recording format, are converted to respective MPEG-2 program streams of one or more programs conveyed by the transport stream, with the program stream data being recorded, while in addition the program specific information and service information (PSI/SI information) which are received multiplexed within the transport stream are demultiplexed and also recorded. A method for providing a broadcast service to a terminal by a network in a Digital Video Broadcasting-Handheld (DVB-H) Convergence of Broadcasting and Mobile Service (CBMS) system. The method includes generating Program Specific Information/Service Information (PSI/SI) indicative of information related to a broadcast service requested by the terminal; generating mapping information for information on the broadcast service in an Internet Protocol (IP) platform from which the terminal is currently receiving the broadcast service, and for information on a broadcast service corresponding to the broadcast service in IP platforms other than the IP platform; and including the generated mapping information in an IP/Medium Access Control (MAC) Information Notification Table (INT) of the PSI/SI, and delivering the INT to the terminal.

A multiplexer handling different types of traffic in different queue types, including in one embodiment time-stamped content such as in the form of MPEG service data, untimed content such as in the form of other variable bit rate data, and periodic tables, such as in the form of MPEG program specific information, allocates a tag to each packet, which is used to schedule packets for transmission. A tagging algorithm tags each packet in the queue, and a packet scheduling algorithm uses the tag to determine which packet is next to be transmitted, and a control algorithm determines when the scheduling algorithm will be executed. The algorithms cooperate to allow the multiplexer to handle traffic without requiring an internal clock to be synchronized with the input streams, nor stuffing of packets to pad out the contents of the variable bit rate traffic.

The embodiment of the invention discloses a program content broadcasting method which comprises the following steps of: when a program content update request sent by a set-top box is received, judging whether the program content needs updating; if so, writing the program content to be updated into a program file; encapsulating the program file into a program data packet; and broadcasting the program data packet to the set-top box. Through the invention, the set-top box does not need to analyze a complicated PSI/SI (program specific information/service information) table in the front end code stream, directly analyzes the data packet formed by encapsulating the file carrying the program content, and displays the program content to a user, thereby improving the working efficiency and transmission reliability of the system.

The system includes: a relay center side system, which is adopted to the relay center, according to the relay center side packet identification description (PID) key, for modifying the PID of transport stream and generating the distorted program specific information (PSI); and a terminal side system, which is adopted to the DMB terminal, according to the terminal side PID key, for recovering the distorted PSI of the transport stream received from the relay center and decoding it. The method includes the steps of: identifying whether the actual PID of the TS is consistent when the TS is demultiplexed by audio/video PID acquired through the program map table (PMT) analysis of the TS; generating a preset alarm signal; modifying the PID of the audio/video data in the PMT according to the terminal side PID; and demultiplexing the TS according to the modified PID value.

An audio/video data storing and searching apparatus is provided, which stores audio/video data including additional information of a user desired program, to thereby perform an easy searching. For this purpose, the present invention decodes a transport stream (TS) packet and reads additional information with respect to a user desired audio/video packet from program specific information (PSI), and inserts and stores the read result in a particular region of the audio/video packet and parses the additional information to perform a searching. Thus, the audio/video data storing apparatus extracts additional information, inserts the extracted additional information into a particular region, and stores resultant audio/video data. As a result, the audio/video data storing apparatus can reduce a capacity of a storage medium which is used for storing user desired audio/video data. Also, the audio/video data searching apparatus searches the stored audio/video data using additional information included in a particular region, to thereby provide an effect of enhancing a searching speed.
