Digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) is a digital radio transmission technology developed in South Korea as part of the national IT project for sending multimedia such as TV, radio and datacasting to mobile devices such as mobile phones, laptops and GPS navigation systems. This technology, sometimes known as mobile TV, should not be confused with Digital Audio Broadcasting which was developed as a research project for the European Union. DMB was developed in South Korea as the next generation digital technology to replace FM radio, but the technological foundations were laid by Prof. Dr. Gert Siegle and Dr. Hamed Amor at Robert Bosch GmbH in Germany. The world's first official mobile TV service started in South Korea in May 2005, although trials were available much earlier. It can operate via satellite (S-DMB) or terrestrial (T-DMB) transmission. DMB has also some similarities with the main competing mobile TV standard, DVB-H.

Unified antenna of shark fin type

A unified antenna of shark fin type comprises a pad, a base disposed on upper surface of the pad and providing a space for arranging a printed circuit board and a plurality of antenna units, and a case for covering the pad and the base, wherein the antenna further comprises: a first antenna unit disposed in the middle of the printed circuit board and provided for receiving signal of AM / FM band; a second antenna unit disposed near the first antenna unit and provided for receiving signal of DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) band; and a third antenna unit disposed in front of the first antenna unit and provided for receiving signal of GPS (Global Positioning System) band, and a first auxiliary unit is disposed over the first antenna unit for enhancing electrical properties of the first antenna unit.

Mobile terminal oriented multimedia broadcasting system and implementing method thereof

This invention is a multimedia broadcasting system and its realizing method that facing mobile terminal. It belongs to multimedia broadcasting field. Its feature is that it is based on orthogonal frequency division multiplexingí¬multiple channel system. multiple broadcasting service is provided to mobile terminal by the IFFT of emission terminal and the FFT of receive terminal. The transformation is done by allocating different channels on different sub carrier wave groups by using the frequency range of existing common television broadcasting system and big zone broadcasting type. It can provide media program of scores of channels efficiently and economically, and the utility factor is high. Individualization broadcasting can be realized for different quality needs subscriber. Dynamic power control, modulation, forward error correction encoding and frequency hopping can be realized to ensure the transmission quality. The receive terminal can be simply design and the power consumption can be reduced in this invention.

Method to provide menu, using menu set and multimedia device using the same

A method for providing a menu with a movable menu set and a multimedia device thereof are provided to offer convenient manipulation and excellent visual effect in a relatively small touch screen of the multimedia device. A multimedia function block(210) performs unique functions, such as a file search function, a game function, a recording function, music, moving picture, and photo playback functions, a document making function, and a DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) playback function, of a multimedia device. A GUI(Graphic User Interface) unit(220) provides a GUI implemented by using a menu set to an image generated by the multimedia function block. A touch screen(230) displays the image including the GUI, and receives touch, long touch, and dragging operations from a user. A control unit(240) enables the GUI unit to display the GUI corresponding to manipulation of the user on the touch screen.

Method for registering and displaying digital multimedia broadcasting channels in a mobile terminal with a function for receiving digital multimedia broadcasting

A method is provided for registering and displaying digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) channels in a mobile terminal capable of receiving DMB. A selection of DMB mode is detected and electronic program guide (EPG) information is received. The received EPG information is analyzed and the analyzed received EPG information is divided into fixed program channel information and dynamic program channel information. The fixed program channel information is matched with a genre in which a fixed program channel has been registered, and a result of the matching is displayed. The dynamic program channel information is matched with a genre in which a dynamic program channel has been registered and a genre of a program currently being broadcast on the dynamic program channel, and a result of the matching is displayed.

Handover method and apparatus in digital multimedia broadcasting system

A handover method and apparatus in a digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) system that transmits / receives broadcast data through a frame group using different frequencies. A handover method includes receiving a first frame group header at a serving frequency, and receiving a burst of the desired service at the serving frequency according to a burst arrival time; calculating a first relative start time of a next frame group header; turning power off until a current time arrives at a next header arrival time; receiving a second frame group header at a searching frequency, and acquiring service information of the searching frequency necessary for handover to the searching frequency; returning to the serving frequency and turning the power off; and comparing signal power / quality of the listened frequencies with each other to select a best frequency, and switching to the selected frequency using the acquired corresponding service information.

Error resilient coding, storage, and transmission of digital multimedia data

Error resilient methods and apparatus for coding, transmitting and / or storing digital multimedia data are disclosed. Digital multimedia data is organized into channel blocks, which include columns of data. A priority is determined for each channel block, based on the data within the channel block. Different forward error correction (FEC) procedures may be selected for the channel blocks based on their priority. Also, channel blocks may be transmitted on different transmission channels, and / or stored on different storage elements, based on their priority. Also disclosed is the coding, as pre-interleaved channel blocks, of digital multimedia data having fixed-length segments. The fixed-length segments are ordered and arranged in pre-interleaved channel blocks containing rows and columns. Pre-interleaving of a channel block arranges consecutive fixed-length segments along its columns. FEC data is determined for each row and included in the channel block. The channel blocks are packetized along the columns.
