Systems and methods are provided for processing and analyzing signals reflecting, physiologic processes and events in a monitored subject, especially cardio-pulmonary signals. The input signals are analyzed by in a physiological domain by creating structured data representing the physiological events reflected in the signals. Preferably, first, primitive event objects are created representing physiologically-significant portions of these input signals; second, the primitive event objects are grouped into primary event objects representing actual physiologic processes and events. Next, all objects are stored in databases, and organized in containers for efficient searching. Information may be retrieved by creating view objects which associate physiologic event objects having selected properties specified directly in physiological terms. This invention includes methods for performing the above analysis, systems and program products for carrying out these methods, and databases configured with the stored objects and views.

A method of performing primary service backups for a direct broadcast system is provided. The method includes establishing play-out of a plurality of primary events via a plurality of primary devices and establishing play-out of a plurality of backup events via at least one backup device. A controller switches from a primary device of the plurality of primary devices to a backup device of the at least one backup device in response to a malfunction signal from one of the plurality of primary devices. A direct server-based broadcast system and a direct port-based broadcast system are also provided which implement the above-stated method.

In one embodiment, the present invention provides an event recording system that has an event-capture module, an editing module, and a media recording module. The event-capture module captures an event signal, such as an audio signal from a sound event, and transforms the signal into a primary event file that is accessible as it is being formed. The editing module is communicatively connected to the event capture module. It accesses and parses the primary event file into one or more digital track files that can be recorded onto a recording media. Likewise, the media recording module is communicatively linked to the editing module for receiving the one or more digital track files from the editing module. An event spectator connection tool is a multiprocessor distributed computing system. A memory stores computer instructions that direct processors to maintain a social network database storing records associated with spectators and event hosts. For each spectator, a data structure represents a primary geographic region and a list of interests of the spectator. For each event host, a data structure represents a list of geographic regions and a list of services offered at each venue operated by the event host. The processors identify a primary event of interest, identify a first geographic region, predict an expected attendance to view the primary event of interest at a certain venue located in the first geographic region, and communicate information identifying a gathering to view the primary event of interest at the certain venue to spectators whose profile indicates that the first geographic region is conterminous with the spectator's primary geographic region and that the primary event of interest is represented in the respective spectator's list of interests.

A circuit and method for distributing events in an event stream. A circuit for distributing events in a signal into a plurality of channels of circuitry capable of timestamping events is described. The circuit includes a first plurality of flip-flops arranged in a cascading configuration. The cascading configuration distributes a primary event stream into a first plurality of secondary event streams on each successive rising edge of the primary event stream. The circuit also includes a second plurality of flip-flops arranged in another cascading configuration for distributing the primary event stream. The primary event stream is distributed into a second plurality of secondary event streams on each successive falling edge of said primary event stream.
