Low-level laser therapy is applied externally through the skin of the patient to targeted areas of a of a patient's body to treat diabetes or prediabetes. A patient is first diagnosed with diabetes or prediabetes, preferably by blood draws that measure insulin, A1C, or glucose levels. A therapeutic amount of laser energy to apply is determined from a patient's biological factors such as body mass index. The therapeutic amount of laser energy is applied one or more times over a two week time period. The patient is then retested for diabetes or prediabetes. If necessary, a new therapeutic amount of laser energy is determined according to any changes in the patient's diabetes or prediabetes diagnosis and any changes in the patient's biological factors. Adjusted treatments with low-level laser energy continue until the diabetes or prediabetes diagnosis is removed.

Alternately, a first high-intensity laser shock processing treatment is performed on the workpiece, followed by the removal of material from the compressive residual stress region, and then a second low-intensity laser shock processing treatment is performed on the workpiece. Material may be removed from the compressive residual stress region through a workpiece surface different from the laser shock processed surface. Material may also be deposited onto the laser shock processed surface.

The invention relates to a polarized light scattering measurement system and method based on magneto-optic modulation. Coherent light sent out by a laser is changed to linear polarized light through a polarizer, and the linear polarized light is focused into a sample matching tank through a focusing lens. Scattered light coming out from the sample matching tank passes through an expanded beam collimating lens to reduce a divergence angle of the scattered light and collimate the diameter of an outgoing beam, and then the scattered light passes through a Faraday coil, a polarization analyzer and an expanded beam lens in sequence to obtain linear polarized light with periodic changes which can be received by a photomultiplier tube after passing through an aperture diaphragm capable of limiting a photosensitive area, signals are sent into a phase-locked amplifier by the photomultiplier tube to filter and remove external noise and white noise inside equipment, and then sent into a sampling integrator and a computer for sampling integration and digital average to obtain the particle size distribution.
