Methods and devices for charge management for three-dimensional sensing

Structures and methods for three-dimensional image sensing using high frequency modulation includes CMOS-implementable sensor structures using differential charge transfer, including such sensors enabling rapid horizontal and slower vertical dimension local charge collection. Wavelength response of such sensors can be altered dynamically by varying gate potentials. Methods for producing such sensor structures on conventional CMOS fabrication facilities include use of “rich” instructions to command the fabrication process to optimize image sensor rather than digital or analog ICs. One detector structure has closely spaced-apart, elongated finger-like structures that rapidly collect charge in the spaced-apart direction and then move collected charge less rapidly in the elongated direction. Detector response is substantially independent of the collection rate in the elongated direction.

CMOS three-dimensional image sensor detectors having reduced inter-gate capacitance, and enhanced modulation contrast

A CMOS detector with pairs of interdigitated elongated finger-like collection gates includes p+ implanted regions that create charge barrier regions that can intentionally be overcome. These regions steer charge to a desired collection gate pair for collection. The p+ implanted regions may be formed before and / or after formation of the collection gates. These regions form charge barrier regions when an associated collection gate is biased low. The barriers are overcome when an associated collection gate is high. These barrier regions steer substantially all charge to collection gates that are biased high, enhancing modulation contrast. Advantageously, the resultant structure has reduced power requirements in that inter-gate capacitance is reduced in that inter-gate spacing can be increased over prior art gate spacing and lower swing voltages may be used. Also higher modulation contrast is achieved in that the charge collection area of the low gate(s) is significantly reduced.

Channeled moisture management sock

ActiveUS20090000339A1Improved moisture transfer interfaceIncrease surface area contactOrnamental textile articlesInsolesYarnEngineering
An improved moisture transfer interface for knit products, such as socks. The interface requires a first knit portion comprising predominately hydrophilic yarn and a second knit portion comprising predominately hydrophobic yarn. The first and second knit portions each possess elongated fingers of their respective yarns which are interlocked with one another. Moisture that is absorbed by the hydrophilic first knit portion is wicked into the hydrophobic second knit portion and subsequently evaporates. The interlocked fingers provide a more effective moisture transfer interface than a non-fingered interface.

End effector with force controlling mechanism

A precision soft-touch end effector has a mounting plate attached to a robot arm. The plate supports a stepper motor. The output shaft of the stepper motor is connected through a spring to an elongated finger that slides in a central longitudinal slot of the plate and supports a first wafer gripping post, while on the end opposite to the first wafer gripping post the mounting plate pivotally supports two L-shaped fingers with a second and third wafer gripping posts on their respective ends. The mounting plate in combination with the first sliding finger and two pivotal fingers forms the end effector of the robot arm which is thin enough for insertion into a wafer-holding slot of a wafer cassette. The end effector is equipped with a mapping sensor for detecting the presence or absence of the preceding wafer, wafer position sensors for determining positions of the wafer with respect to the end effector, and force sensors for controlling the wafer gripping force. Several embodiments relate to different arrangements of gripping rollers and mechanisms for control of the gripping force and speed of gripping required for gripping the wafer with a soft and reliable touch.

Cutting tool

A cutting tool includes a housing having a first end with a first edge and a second end. A handle adapted to receive a hand is formed in the housing. The housing encloses a first blade which has a cutting position when the first blade extends from the housing and a retracted position with the blade inside the housing. An elongated finger portion is extended from the first end of the housing. The finger portion and the first edge define an elongated opening having a junction at the first end of the housing. A second blade is embedded in the housing at the preferred angle of 19.5 percent and diagonally spans the opening and the junction. The second is shaped, sized and orientated to facilitate forward slitting of heavy plastic sheet. The first blade slides axially along an interior track. A biasing means repositions the first blade from the retracted position to the cutting position. The first blade makes a slit in the packaging. The elongated finger is then inserted into the opening and the second blade enlarges the slit to the desired length to remove the item from its packaging.

Clip on Reel Tine

A plastic tine for mounting on a support tube of a harvester reel has a generally C-shaped mounting base that snaps onto the backside of the tube and an elongated finger that projects outwardly and normally downwardly from the mounting base. A generally C-shaped clip, oriented reversely to the mounting base, partially surrounds the front side of the support tube and is connected to one leg of the mounting base in such a manner that a free end of the clip can be swung toward and away from a corresponding opposite leg of the mounting base. Interlocking structure on the free end of the clip and corresponding distal end of the mounting base retains the clip in place against the front side of the support tube when the clip is fully installed. A special guard protectively overlies the free end of the mounting clip when it is locked to the mounting base so as to prevent accidental dislodgment by crop materials and residue during field operations. Provision is made for attachment of the tine to the tube by a threaded fastener in case the clip is dislodged or unavailable in the field. Alternative embodiments include an integral one-piece construction wherein the clip is integral with the rest of the tine and a separate two-part construction wherein the clip is a separate piece attachable to the rest of the tine.
