Pneumatic projectile launching apparatus with partition-loading apparatus

An improved pneumatic launching apparatus is disclosed having both a partition apparatus for enabling a projectile, such as filled capsules used in paintball, marking devices or crowd control, to be loaded and readied for expulsion and a venting-pressure regulator. When the partition apparatus is in an open position, an aperture is exposed allowing a projectile of complimentary size and shape to transfer to the receiving chamber. The shape of the partition is such that a next projectile is gently cradled and separated from the receiving chamber during a closing movement. Further, the partition facilitates the projectile reaching a containing area and it creates a seal that on the chamber that significantly inhibits the escape of pressurized gas during a firing operation and facilitates the projectile loading into a containing area. The venting-pressure regulator utilizes opposed pistons with an escape mechanism to allow venting to occur without requiring a separate adjustment.

Self-adaptive intelligent traffic light and control method thereof

The invention provides a self-adaptive control method of an intelligent traffic light, which operates according to the following principle: extracting a situation of vehicles on lanes and pedestrians on pedestrian crossings through computer vision technology, and automatically controlling a traffic light according to the extracted situation. The intelligent traffic light comprises an image sampling module, an image processing and interpreting module, an arbitration control module and a warning light display module. The control method comprises the following steps: obtaining collected images of current vehicle areas and pedestrian areas through the image sampling module; obtaining foreground parts of current vehicles and pedestrians through background subtraction, extracting vehicle parts according to extraction edge features and pedestrian parts according to faces and shape features of the pedestrians, and calculating the density of vehicles and pedestrians in the corresponding area. If the vehicle density in the vehicle waiting area is higher than a threshold at a time, the traffic light allows pedestrians to pass; and if the pedestrian density in the pedestrian waiting area is higher than a threshold at a time, the traffic light allows vehicles to pass. If the vehicle density and the pedestrian density are both lower than another corresponding threshold at a time, warming light signals are changed according to the interval for the general situation. The invention is particularly applicable to crowd control during the peak period.

Crowd control barrier post assembly

A lockable post assembly includes a post member (12) having a vertical axis and an anchor portion (14) at a lower first end thereof. The anchor portion (14) has a head (16) and neck (18), the neck (18) defining a female constriction above the head (16). An anchor socket (22) secured within the ground is adapted to lockably receive the anchor portion (14) so as to hold the post member (12) upright. The anchor socket (22) has a keyed passageway (24) with an inward collar portion (26). The collar portion (26) defines a male constriction above a lower cavity (30). In use, the anchor socket (22) lockably receives the anchor portion (14) by the steps of inserting the anchor portion downwardly in a first orientation about the vertical axis so that the head (16) enters the lower cavity (30), and then rotating the anchor portion (14) to a second orientation about the vertical axis so that the head (16) is underneath or abuts a bottom surface of the collar portion (26). In this way, the post member (12) is held upright and cannot be lifted from the anchor socket (22) without counter-rotating the anchor portion (14) to the first orientation.

Pin locking mechanism

A pin locking mechanism selectively permits or resists the rotation of two nested tubular members with respect to each other. The pin has a substantially rectangular cross-section. The pin passes through a pair of holes defined in the outer tubular member, and a pair of slots defined within the inner tubular member. The slots have ends wider than their central portion, so that the pin may only fit within the central portion of the slot when it is substantially parallel to the slot, but may fit within the end portions when it is perpendicular to the slot. The nested tubular members may therefore be rotated with respect to each other when the pin is held substantially parallel with the slot, and rotation is resisted when the pin is held in a perpendicular orientation. A handle at one end of the pin is biased towards the outer tubular member by a spring at the opposite end of the pin. Rotation of the pin is resisted when the handle abuts the outer tubular member, and permitted when the handle is pulled away from the outer tubular member. The pin locking mechanism is particularly suitable for a pivoting base of a crowd control barrier.
