443 results about "Adhesive bandage" patented technology

An adhesive bandage, also called a sticking plaster, medical plaster, or simply plaster in British English, is a small medical dressing used for injuries not serious enough to require a full-size bandage. They are also known by the genericized trademarks Band-Aid (as "band-aid" or "band aid" in the US and Australia) or Elastoplast (in the UK).

System for long-term remote medical monitoring

A system for long-term remote medical monitoring is especially suitable for the medical supervision of astronauts onboard a space station. The system includes at least one autonomous sensor unit (SU) with a sensor (1) and transmit / receive electrodes (2) connected to a microchip (3) and mounted on a carrier (4) in the form of an adhesive bandage that can easily be applied to the skin of the subject astronaut (11). The system further includes a body transceiver (10) that is worn on the body of the subject and acts as a centralized transmitting and receiving unit, and a portable data logger (12). Medical data such as the pulse rate and the like, as well as environmental data such as the ambient surrounding air temperature, are sensed by respective allocated sensor units (SU) and transmitted from the sensor units as electrical signals via the skin and other body tissues of the subject (11) to the body transceiver (10). From the body transceiver (10), the data signals are further transmitted, for example by a radio or infrared transmission, to the data logger (12), where the data can be recorded, displayed, processed, or further transmitted via a satellite (14) to a base station (13) or a ground-based facility such as a hospital (15). Polling signals are also transmitted from the body transceiver (10) to the sensor units (SU) in a wireless manner through the skin and other body tissues of the subject.

Wearable biomonitor with flexible thinned integrated circuit

A sensor system (30) has a sensor module (10) and a receiver module (45). The sensor module (10) functions as a wireless data collection device and has a flexible thin sheet of silicon (60, 65, 70) comprising circuitry (71, 72, 73), a flexible power source (105), and a flexible support substrate (55). The silicon, power source, and flexible support substrate are integrated as layers of the sensor module (10). The layers are placed together in the form of an adhesive bandage (10). A plurality of electrodes (80) are connected to the sensor module (10) and protrude from the flexible substrate (55) for contacting the skin of a subject body (20). The receiver module (45) includes one of an RF receiver with a wireless port for continuously receiving data (40), or a physical I / O port (87) to which the sensor module (10) can be physically connected for downloading stored data from the sensor module (10).

Product integrity systems and associated methods

The invention provides a smart sensor in the form of an adhesive bandage. The sensor may be used in many applications such as within sports, the shipping industry and medical and health industries. The sensor sticks to people and objects and wirelessly communicates with remote receivers. Internal detectors sense conditions associated with movement and / or the environment of the sensor. In one example, an accelerometer detects impact and drop distance of a package in transit; the sensor is either within a label or attached to a product within the package. The sensor may also prevent theft and assist in tracking package disposition so as to reduce lost packages. The sensors of the invention may also be used in fitness and health, such as to monitor body functions of heart rate and respiration; these sensors also may initiate immediate wireless warnings for improper functions so that persons may obtain immediate assistance. Sensors of the invention are also useful for sports media broadcasts; multiple sensors may attach to athletes so that wireless performance data is made available, in near real time, to audiences and media observers. Data from sensors of the invention may also change the computer gaming community; that is, certain sensors tracking real performance data may relay information used within gaming so as to govern computer gaming motions. Typically, sensors of the invention communicate by an RF transmitter or transceiver. Groups of sensors may be combined within a common canister that imparts date and time information and “power on” when dispensed.

Simplified one-handed preemptive medical procedure site dressing to prevent sharps injuries and exposure to bloodborne pathogens

A dressing for use with medical procedures is provided that permits application of the dressing prior to the commencement of a medical procedure and wherein the dressing remains on the site after the procedure has been completed. The dressing comprises an absorbent pad, a hinged door and an aperture through which the procedure site can be accessed or it comprises an adhesive bandage part, which is bent and secured in such a way that the bandage forms a door and a hinge, and an adhesive flap component which anchors the bandage to the skin. The bandage is positioned in such a way as to infer or define the location where the procedure is to be performed. In either embodiment, when it is deployed, the door or bandage is rotated around the hinge and can be set in place at a procedure location prior to the procedure. Importantly, the device can be deployed with one hand, to complete the bandaging of a procedure site simultaneous with or within a moment after the completion of the medical procedure. The device is not size-limited by the disclosure. The invention may be small enough to use to perform an injection or it may be large enough that a major surgical procedure can be performed through the aperture. Methods of using the dressing of the present invention are also provided.

The invention relates to a preparation method and application of zwitterion water gel dressing. According to the preparation method, zwitterion monomers, cross linking agents, initiators, sodium chloride and distilled water are uniformly mixed according to the ingredient content; a glass slide is used for preparing templates; a polyfluortetraethylene pad is clamped between two glass slides, and a gap is then formed there; gauze is cut into the proper size to be clamped between the glass slides; then, a uniformly mixed reaction solution is dripped into the template gap; through crosslinking reaction, the zwitterion water gel modified gauze dressing can be obtained. Identically, during the preparation of a zwitterion water gel woundplast, the zwitterion water gel modified woundplast dressing can be obtained through the crosslinking reaction. The water gel dressing provided by the invention has the advantages that the water content is high, so that the wound is in a moist environment; meanwhile, the water absorption capability is high, and the secreted body fluid can be absorbed at any time, so that no excessive pyema exists in the wound position; high biocompatibility is realized; the problems of skin allergy inflammation and the like cannot be caused; the fast heeling of the wound can be promoted.

Packaging for adhesive-sided articles to allow one-handed application

A packaged article including an adhesive-sided article, such as an adhesive bandage, and packaging formed of top and bottom backing sheets with a release layer disposed either directly on the bottom backing sheet facing the adhesive side of the article or on release paper carried on the bottom backing sheet. The facing surfaces of the top backing sheet and bottom backing sheet peripherally surrounding the adhesive-sided article have cohesive surfaces. An adhesive strip, preferably a double-sided adhesive strip, attaches the non-adhesive side of the adhesive-sided article to the top backing sheet. The top sheet is used as an applicator for placing the article onto a target surface, such as a patient's skin. The cohesive surface of the top sheet surrounding the article does not adhere to the target surface. A release layer applied directly on the bottom backing sheet eliminates additional material and waste.
