Modular multi-wall tray retrofitable to a wheelchair

A robust multi-wall tray which is easily retrofitable to a wheelchair. Due to the structural design, the tray is lightweight but yet more rigid than conventional solid wheelchair trays. The multi-wall tray can be secured to a wheelchair with conventional means or with several novel means that provide a smooth work surface free of screws or Velcro™. A novel prior art adjustable tray support structure can also be integrated into the multi-wall tray to allow the system to mount robustly to the frame of a wheelchair and also allow the tray to fold away to the side of the wheelchair when not in use. Additionally, the multi-wall tray can have a sealed perimeter to create an enclosure for protecting electronic devices. The design can support electronic devices for computer assisted living while also providing a tray work surface for reading, writing or eating.

Coupling

A coupling for attaching to an end of a tube, pipe, conduit or other round solid or hollow section. The coupling includes an inner body and a collar to be provided around the inner body. The inner body has an interior bore passing through at least a portion thereof to receive a tube or the like and the bore has one or more interior annular protuberances extending into the bore. When the collar is provided around the inner body it applies a circumferential compressive force to deform the inner body such that the one or more annular protuberances engage the tube or the like to seal with it.

Cartridge unit for a multi-compartment container assembly

A cartridge container unit having a compartment for storing a material. The compartment is adapted for separately storing one component of a formulation until ready for mixing with a second component in an assembly unit prior to use. Thus, the cartridge unit allows the user to store a material until ready for use, or to store multiple components of a formulation in separate individually sealed containers until ready for use that can be readily assembled into a single multi-compartment container. The cartridge unit includes a substantially cylindrical housing having a sealable opening at its top end and an opening at its bottom end. The bottom end may be adapted and configured to engage and seal the assembly unit. A first inwardly extending annular shoulder is provided between the sealable opening and the bottom opening, defining a flow passage along a longitudinal axis of the housing.

Method of making a solid oxide fuel cell stack

A method of making a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) stack that includes the steps of applying a seal enhancing coating and a conductive coating onto respective surfaces of a separator plate and simultaneously co-firing the coatings in a reducing atmosphere. The method may also include, prior to the step of co-firing, the step of assembling a plurality of separator plates with complementary cell-retainer assemblies to form a plurality of fuel cell cassettes. The fuel cell cassettes are then stacked with a glass sealant applied between the fuel cell cassettes to form a SOFC stack. The entire SOFC stack is then co-fired in a reducing atmosphere such that the seal enhancing and conductive coatings are bonded into the respective surfaces and the glass sealant devitrify to form a glass seal joining and sealing the cassettes of the SOFC stack.

Sealing device with ridges for corrugated stainless steel tubing

A sealing device and method for sealing a length of tubing with a fitting are provided, where the sealing device includes at least one sealing surface formed with a plurality of ridges. The sealing device is particularly useful for sealing at least an end corrugation of tubing in a fitting used in gas and liquid piping systems. The fitting is sized to maintain a generally circular shape of the end corrugation after the corrugation is collapsed between the ridged sealing surface and another sealing surface. In particular, an inner diameter of one or more components of the fitting can be sized such that the corrugated tubing will have a circular profile to provide an optimal seal.

Pressure-measuring plug for a combustion engine

Disclosed is a pressure-measuring plug for a combustion engine. The pressure-measuring plug comprises a plug body and a ring-shaped sensing structure. The plug body comprises an external thread for mounting the plug body into a cylinder head of the combustion engine. The ring-shaped sensing structure comprises an outer section and an inner core. A proximal end of the plug body is attached to the outer section. The inner core comprises a through hole for receiving a rod-shaped element. The ring-shaped sensing structure allows the inner core to move relatively to the outer section along a cylinder axis of the ring-shaped sensing structure. The inner core further comprises an internal thread for mounting in the through hole a rod-shaped element with an external thread.

Scroll compressor utilizing liquid or vapor injection

A scroll compressor that utilizes liquid or vapor injection to cool a working fluid being compressed by an orbiting scroll member and a non-orbiting scroll member, and / or to increase the efficiency of the compressor. An injection fitting is secured to, and extends through, the compressor housing and receives liquid or vapor working fluid from a source external to the compressor. The non-orbiting scroll member may be fixedly mounted with respect to the crankcase of the compressor, and internal passages formed within the crankcase and the non-orbiting scroll member, which are substantially isolated from the suction pressure and discharge pressure chambers of the compressor, are used to convey liquid or vapor working fluid from the injection fitting into intermediate pressure working pockets defined between the scroll members. The compressor may include an end cap fitted over an open end of its housing which overlaps an end of the passage provided in the non-orbiting scroll member to provide a robust sealing of the passage.

Energized PTFE seal for butterfly valve

A plate within the valve pivots about a shaft to cause the plate to transition between an open position and a closed position within a bore passing through the housing of the valve. The plate has a perimeter seal thereon which abuts against a tapering seat of the bore when the throttle plate is in a closed orientation. The seal has a curving form over a recess and an energy source, such as the toroidal spring in the recess, to energize the seal and allow it to maintain secure contact against the seat. The shaft is offset from the centerline of the bore and the plate is mounted to the shaft at a location offset from the center point of the plate, so that rotation of the plate causes the plate to swing somewhat into a closed position, minimizing abrasive contact between the seat and seal during closing.
