Heat-resistant packaging container made of polyester resin

A heat-resistant packaging container made of a polyester resin, formed by stretch-blow molding is provided. A top portion of a bottom face is formed to have a large wall thickness to impart a resistance to heat deformation. A peripheral wall of the bottom face is formed to have a wall thickness that is gradually reduced from the top portion toward an arc grounding edge around the bottom face. An outer peripheral wall of the bottom portion is stretch molded from inside of the grounding edge so as to have a wall thickness as same as that of the body portion to attain a heat resistance. The inside of the grounding edge connecting to the peripheral wall of the bottom face is formed into a tilt surface which is oriented upwardly in consideration of an amount of expanding deformation alpha of the grounding edge due to heating and loading. By forming the bottom face in consideration of a deformation amount of the grounding edge of the bottom face of the container due to heating and loading of contents, it is possible to keep the levelness of the grounding edge even after the heating.

The container structure includes an upper rim, a bottom and a sidewall that extends between the upper rim and the bottom. A wine glass constructed from molded plastic includes an upper body defining an upwardly narrowed flume for concentrating the wine bouquet, in combination with a contoured lower base defining an annular moat surrounding a central punt for enhanced visual inspection of the wine. In addition, the upper body further includes a notched indent at an outboard side thereof forming a shelf for facilitated fingertip grasping and manipulation of the assembled glass. In one form, the upper body and lower base of the wine glass are provided as separate modules adapted for assembly to form the wine glass, and disassembly for respective compact stacking. In another form, the wine glass has a one-piece construction adapted for compact stacking by nested reception of the upwardly narrowed flume partially into the underside of the lower base of an overlying glass in the stack.

The flanged container for a dairy product or similar food composition is provided with a hollow body and a generally planar annular flange connected to the top of the body, the flange having outer straight side edges and an inner edge defining a circular upper opening of the container. The body has a planar bottom and a lower portion tapering from a generally cylindrical upper portion toward the bottom in a curved manner. The lower portion has a height h1 in some embodiments not less than 14 mm and the ratio h1 / H is less than 2:5 where H is the height of the container. A blow-molded decorative article is disclosed which comprises a plurality of different polymers having different melt flow rates that cause inter-dispersion of the polymers upon blow-molding. The article is blow-molded from a multiple layer parison that a plurality of layers of like polymers, i.e., polyethylenes, polypropylenes, polystyrenes, etc., that have different melt flow rates and different colors. As a result in the differences in the melt flow rates, the polymers of the various layers mix upon blow-molding to create the look of a glazed ceramic pottery or an exterior pattern such as a tie-dyed marbleized or camouflaged pattern.

Long-term packaging of food for consumer use

Long-term packaging using a combination of an induction seal and a reseal without release layers, both of which are activated by the induction heating process. The exemplary induction seal comprises a laminate of a heat-sealing layer, an aluminum foil layer, and a foam backing The exemplary reseal comprises a low-density polyethylene foam core sandwiched between first and second layers of solid low-density polyethylene film. The reseal deforms during the induction heating process to be shaped to engage the outer and inner peripheral surfaces of the finish, so that the reseal is hermetic even after the induction seat is removed. Preferred containers are PETE with PP compression closures. Replaceable desiccant and oxygen scavengers may used with food or other contained material. Precise timing of induction heating is required to achieve the desired result. Kits for making such packaging are disclosed.

A plastic container for use in a sterilization process includes a neck having a finish, an upper transition portion extending from the neck, a generally polygonal structure having a plurality of relatively flat panels separated by columns, and a base portion where the generally polygonal structure is disposed between the upper transition portion and the base portion. The mold includes a heating system locally disposed adjacent the groove for heating the walls of the groove so as to heat the thermoplastic in this region, thereby reducing the viscosity of the thermoplastic so that it more-readily flows into and completely fills the groove. The mold can also include a cooling system disposed locally adjacent the groove for cooling the flange of the blow-molded article prior to ejection of the article from the mold.
