896 results about "Input selection" patented technology

In mathematical modelling and system identification, the term input selection is used to denote the process of selecting those inputs which are most relevant in describing the output. The inputs which are retained after the input selection process are those that are used for the actual modelling.

Recognizing selection regions from multiple simultaneous inputs

The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for recognizing selection regions from multiple simultaneous inputs. Input selection regions are calculated from simultaneous contacts on a multi-touch input display surface. Computer system users can use natural and / or more intuitive hand gestures to select items on an input / display surface. Selection regions can be dynamically adjusted to in response to detected changes in contact at different locations on a surface. For example, selection region changes can be updated in essentially real-time as fingers are added and moved on the multi-touch input display surface. The calculation of selection regions can vary based on an application and / or operating system context.

Casino gambling machine with bonus round award redemption

An electronic gambling unit for allowing a user to play a main gambling game and a bonus round game, and for dispensing value to the user at the conclusion of the bonus round game, may generally include a display unit capable of generating color images or other display mechanism capable of displaying symbols associated with the main gambling game and the bonus round game. The electronic gambling unit may further include an input device that allows the user to make a plurality of input selections, a currency-accepting mechanism capable of allowing the user to deposit a medium of currency, a value-dispensing mechanism capable of dispensing value to the user, and a controller operatively coupled to the display unit, the input device, the currency-accepting mechanism, and the value-dispensing mechanism. The controller may include a processor and a memory operatively coupled to the processor.

Freeform encounter selection tool

A freeform selection tool for a computer system with a graphical user interface allows a user to draw a freeform selection path so as to select one or more graphical objects. The user is provided with the freedom to input selection ink, in any orientation, and using any desired selection path size provided by the select tool. The selecting tool may change the visual appearance of any graphical object once selected. The selecting tool provides the ability to select ink or graphical object with a particular property to be used for the selection. The selecting tool can recognize various selection gestures coordinated with a semantic relationship of the ink so that the number of selection ink strokes can be minimized. The selecting tool may change for different selection modes depending on the type of graphical object encountered and change of the context for a particular selection.

Kiosk and Method for Vending Stored Value Cards

A kiosk machine vends stored value cards (i.e., pre-paid and gift cards). The kiosk is self-service and will allow a user to select, purchase and pay for a stored value card without requiring the presence or assistance of a sales clerk. The kiosk can vend one or more cards in a single transaction. The kiosk is a computer-based vending machine having a touch-sensitive video screen and a card reader. The touch screen provides a user interface for a user to receive information and provide input selections. The card reader can be used to read a transaction card (e.g., an American Express card or credit card) to facilitate payment for the stored value card(s) being purchased. The vending method comprises: providing a kiosk having a user interface; receiving, via the user interface, a request to purchase a stored value card, receiving payment for the purchase; determining a card number associated with a selected card; activating the selected card to produce an activated stored value card in the card denomination; and dispensing the activated stored value card. A user purchasing a stored value card can select a type of stored value card, wherein the type is selected from the group consisting of an open card and a closed card. The closed card can be of the type usable only in a shopping center where the kiosk is physically located. The user can further select a card denomination. The method further allows a user to check a card balance for a stored value card.

Method and apparatus for providing uninterruptible power

Methods and apparatus for providing uninterruptible power are provided by aspects of the invention. One aspect is more particularly directed to an uninterruptible power supply for providing power to a load. The uninterruptible power supply includes a first input to receive input power from an input power source, an output to provide output power, a bypass input to receive bypass power from a bypass power source, wherein the bypass input is selectively coupled to the output to provide output power from the bypass power source, an input power circuit coupled to the first input and having a DC output that provides DC power having a first DC voltage level, a back-up power source coupled to the input power circuit to provide DC power at the DC output in a back-up mode of operation, and an inverter circuit having an output coupled to the DC output of the input power circuit and having an output coupled to the output of the uninterruptible power supply to provide the output power derived from at least one of the input power source and the back-up power source. The uninterruptible power supply is constructed and arranged in a bypass mode of operation to control the inverter circuit to convert AC power from the bypass power source at the output of the inverter circuit to DC power at the input of the inverter circuit.

DC-DC controller with integrated SMbus registers for dynamic voltage positioning

A system and method for selecting a voltage output reference required of a DC-DC converter included in a power supply, the voltage output reference corresponding to an operating state of the power supply load. The method stores data for the voltage output reference required for each of a plurality of operating states of the load in a corresponding register. A control input that identifies an operating state of the load is received. An output of the register is selected in response to the control input. The voltage output reference required for the operating state of the load is generated in response to the selected output from the register. An apparatus for selecting a voltage output reference required by a load with a plurality of operating states includes a plurality of registers. Each of the plurality of registers has a register input and a register output, and is configurable to store data corresponding to a voltage required by the load for each of a plurality of operating states. The apparatus also includes a decoder having at least one input and at least one output. The inputs include a plurality of voltage inputs, and a control input. The output includes the voltage output reference. Each of the plurality of voltage inputs are coupled to the respective register output.
