169 results about "Context management" patented technology

Context management is a dynamic computer process that uses 'subjects' of data in one application, to point to data resident in a separate application also containing the same subject. Context management allows users to choose a subject once in one application, and have all other applications containing information on that same subject 'tune' to the data they contain, thus eliminating the need to redundantly select the subject in the varying applications.

Access context management for macro-level mobility management registration in an access network

In an access network which supports a mobile IP protocol, a packet data protocol context is opened at support node and a gateway node in order to establish a connection between a mobile node and a mobile IP foreign agent located at the gateway node. A mobile IP registration over the connection is initiated. The gateway node monitors whether the registration is successful or fails. The PDP context is deleted, if the registration irrecoverably fails. If the registration was unsuccessful but a retry could be successful, the PDP context may not deleted, but the registration is retried.

Packet Data Network Gateway and Terminal Mobility Management System

A packet data network gateway and a UE mobility management system are disclosed. In the packet data network gateway, a context management unit is configured to: when the P-GW is selected as the UE's target P-GW, create a context for the UE and store the UE's context information from S-GW and a source P-GW to which the UE is currently attached; an identity management unit is configured to: assign a location identity including the UE's routing information to the UE. The present invention reselects a P-GW for the UE to attach, thereby eliminating the circuitous routing in the process of the UE connecting and using services, saving transmission bearer resources, reducing transmission delay of data packet, and ensuring that the UE is still reachable after changing the attached P-GW, thus neither the UE nor the peer end is aware of the movement of the UE in the IP level.

The client system is adapted to put itself in a second state analogous to the first state mentioned above, in accordance with the context information (CINF, CUID). The method according to the invention provides context management enabling the user to associate the responses received with requests sometimes made well beforehand.

Command queueing engine

The present invention includes a Command Queuing Engine (CQE) that is a firmware-assist block which processes some of the firmware tasks related to command and context management preferably for SCSI. When enabled, CQE will decode SCSI commands as they arrive, and determine if DMA contexts can be automatically configured and started to transfer the data for those commands. CQE can also program DMA contexts to automatically return status information either after the disk has completed a transfer (as in non-cached writes) or after the DMA transfer is completed (as in reads or cached writes). CQE also utilizes a buffer-based linked-list to queue the SCSI commands as they arrive for future DMA context configuration. The present invention provides automated recognition and linking of commands belonging to a common thread, i.e., are sequential. The present invention also provides extensive thread boundary information and flexible firmware control for reordering commands. Automatic TE entry generation and storage to buffer memory, and automatic TE retrieval from the buffer memory and execution of entire command threads are further features provided by the present invention. As a result, bus command response latency is decreased by reducing the delay for the command to be started and at the end of the data transfer for status to be send. Disk efficiency is increased by reducing the latency to back-fill or empty a buffer memory segment of data that will be transferred. Furthermore, the present invention is a low-cost trade-off between hardware and firmware functionality.

Method and system of managing conflicts between applications using semantics of abstract services for group context management

A method and a system of managing conflicts between context-aware applications by use of semantics of abstract service for group context information management. The method includes detecting and resolving a conflict between context-aware applications; upon receiving a service request from an application, analyzing a semantic of the requested service; and registering the semantic into a data structure. A determination is made whether a conflict between service actions occurs in the data structure and when the conflict occurs, removing the semantics of the conflicting service actions from the data structure. The conflict between the service actions arises when actions of the valid applications according to the user policies contradict the same context information in the data structure. After removing the semantics of the service actions from the data structure, a resolution policy for the conflict is generated, and a new service is requested according to the resolution policy.

Managed file system filter model and architecture

A model in which filter drivers are managed to receive callbacks for I / O requests in which the filter drivers have registered an interest. Per-volume instances of filter drivers register with a filter manager for pre-callbacks (for I / O to the file system) and post-callbacks (for I / O from the file system), and identify which I / O requests (e.g., create, read, write) they are registering to receive callbacks. The filter manager orders the instances for callbacks. When an I / O request is received, the filter manager converts the I / O request to callback data and calls the interested filters in the callback order, whereby the filter instances can process the I / O data. As the request returns from the file system, filters desiring post callbacks are called in the reverse order. Efficient context management for the filters and other functions, such as non-reentrant file I / O, are also provided by the model.
