167 results about "Context management" patented technology

Context management is a dynamic computer process that uses 'subjects' of data in one application, to point to data resident in a separate application also containing the same subject. Context management allows users to choose a subject once in one application, and have all other applications containing information on that same subject 'tune' to the data they contain, thus eliminating the need to redundantly select the subject in the varying applications.

System for assisting collaborative activity

A system for assisting a collaborative activity includes a plurality of work interfaces, a role management unit, a workflow management unit, a collaborative activity registration unit, and an activity context management unit situated between the plurality of work interfaces and the collaborative activity registration unit to receive entered information from one of the work interfaces, to associate shared information contained in the entered information with user information provided by the role management unit and an activity content provided by the workflow management unit to create collaborative activity information, and to cause the collaborative activity registration unit to register the collaborative activity information.

Managing alerts based on context

ActiveUS20130324160A1Decreasing unwanted alertPerimeter of a geo-fence can be decreasedLocation information based serviceContext managementMobile device
Systems and methods are provided for managing alerts provided to a user of a mobile device based on context of the mobile device. For example, a perimeter of a geo fence can be decreased when the mobile device enters a particular context (such as when the user is traveling on a train), thereby decreasing unwanted alerts. As another example, certain alerts can be dynamically turned on based on the device entering a specified context (e.g., a particular application being executed or the mobile device is being carried by the user as the user is running), thereby allowing the user to receive alerts that he / she would not have otherwise received.

Holistic dynamic information management platform for end-users to interact with and share all information categories, including data, functions, and results, in collaborative secure venue

ActiveUS20050060342A1Limit effectiveness of solutionAgile to changeData processing applicationsDigital data processing detailsContext managementResult Category
A method and system dynamically and contextually manage information in an electronic computational environment. In one aspect, a desired project provides a context for management of a plurality of information elements, each element being in at least one of a plurality of categories. Each category in turn is a member of a category set, and the category set includes data category, function category, and result category. The context corresponds to at least one model that is defined by the elements and a set of rules governing permissible relationships among the elements. The method includes: receiving an input to the environment specifying a relationship among at least two information elements; using an integrity engine, operating to enforce such rules, to verify dynamically correctness of the relationship specified; and upon acceptance of the relation by the integrity engine, storing automatically the relationship specified, so as to permit dynamic interaction with respect to the context. The relation can be specified and implemented on the fly, without a preconceived design process. Related systems are also provided.

Command queueing engine

The present invention includes a Command Queuing Engine (CQE) that is a firmware-assist block which processes some of the firmware tasks related to command and context management preferably for SCSI. When enabled, CQE will decode SCSI commands as they arrive, and determine if DMA contexts can be automatically configured and started to transfer the data for those commands. CQE can also program DMA contexts to automatically return status information either after the disk has completed a transfer (as in non-cached writes) or after the DMA transfer is completed (as in reads or cached writes). CQE also utilizes a buffer-based linked-list to queue the SCSI commands as they arrive for future DMA context configuration. The present invention provides automated recognition and linking of commands belonging to a common thread, i.e., are sequential. The present invention also provides extensive thread boundary information and flexible firmware control for reordering commands. Automatic TE entry generation and storage to buffer memory, and automatic TE retrieval from the buffer memory and execution of entire command threads are further features provided by the present invention. As a result, bus command response latency is decreased by reducing the delay for the command to be started and at the end of the data transfer for status to be send. Disk efficiency is increased by reducing the latency to back-fill or empty a buffer memory segment of data that will be transferred. Furthermore, the present invention is a low-cost trade-off between hardware and firmware functionality.
