Method and apparatus for electronic commerce using a telephone interface

A voice portal supporting telephone to web server commerce is described. The voice portal allows users to access web servers using a hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP), optionally including the use of a secure sockets layer (SSL) protocol, to complete commercial transactions. Additionally, embodiments of the invention can employ a one word commerce model that abstracts the particular model used by various electronic commerce vendors' web sites. The one word commerce model permits a user to identify a product and signal her / his purchase intentions with a single word, phrase, or touch-tone command. The voice portal can then complete the transaction supplying the electronic commerce vendor necessary information about the purchaser, e.g., her / his address, telephone number, electronic mail address, credit card information, etc. As needed, the voice portal can prompt the purchaser for information.

The server may also receive from a payee payment device a payment completion request requesting completion of the payment. The payment completion request may include a payee identifier and exclude the payment amount, payor account and payor particulars. The server may confirm that the payment completion request is uniquely associated with the payee payment device and the payee identifier, and determine the payment amount and the payor account by correlating the payment completion request with the payment initiation request. In accordance with an outcome of the confirming, the payment processing server may effect a transfer in the payment amount from the payor account to the payee account.

Catheter having a compliant member configured to regulate aspiration rates

The present invention is directed to a catheter that is configured to self-regulate aspiration rates through a working lumen of the catheter. The catheter comprises a compliant member in communication with the working lumen that is configured to transition from an open position to a closed position when a predetermined aspiration threshold is exceeded. In the closed position, the compliant member is temporarily drawn inward to at least partially occlude flow through the working lumen, thereby mitigating the rate of aspiration imposed upon a patient's vessel. When the rate of aspiration is reduced below the threshold level, the compliant member returns to the open position.

Interface for enabling a host computer to retrieve device monitor data from a solid state storage subsystem

A non-volatile storage subsystem maintains, and makes available to a host system, monitor data reflective of a likelihood of a data error occurring. The monitor data may, for example, include usage statistics and / or sensor data. The storage subsystem transfers the monitor data to the host system over a signal interface that is separate from the signal interface used for standard storage operations. This interface may be implemented using otherwise unused pins / signal lines of a standard connector, such as a CompactFlash or SATA connector. Special hardware may be provided in the storage subsystem and host system for transferring the monitor data over these signal lines, so that the transfers occur with little or no need for host-software intervention. The disclosed design reduces or eliminates the need for host software that uses non-standard or “vendor-specific” commands to retrieve the monitor data.

Biomedical signal analysis techniques using wavelets

The invention is directed to signal processing techniques for electrograms or other biomedical signals. In particular, the signal processing techniques make use of wavelet transformation of the electrograms. For example, an electrogram can be represented by a finite set of wavelets which comprise a decomposition of the electrogram in the scale-time domain. In accordance with the invention, wavelet analysis techniques can be used to distinguish specific phenomena in electrograms. For example, wavelet analysis can be used to distinguish between occurrences of large amplitude steep deflections, small amplitude steep deflections, and large amplitude shallow deflections of an electrogram.
