Multi-organizational project management system

A multi-organizational project management system provides for full lifecycle tracking of business activities of a complex mix of governmental entities and business organizations by maintaining a secure database of data entities or records to track such activities. The system provides for secure sharing of information among the governments and organizations by controlling access to data entities based on organizational membership and assigned role of system users. The system provides flexible structural relationships among the various data entities. A graphic, web-based user interface of the system enables efficient access to the data entities for entry and update of specific data.

Internet isolation for avoiding internet security threats

A host computer supports a virtual guest system running thereon. The host system has a firewall that prevents it from communicating directly with the Internet, except with predetermined trusted sites. The virtual guest runs on a hypervisor, and the virtual guest comprises primarily a browser program that is allowed to contact the Internet freely via an Internet access connection that is completely separate from the host computer connection, such as a dedicated network termination point with its specific Internet IP address, or by tunneling through the host machine architecture to reach the Internet without exposing the host system. The virtual guest system is separated and completely isolated by an internal firewall from the host, and the guest cannot access any of the resources of the host computer, except that the guest can initiate cut, copy and paste operations that reach the host, and the guest can also request print of documents. The host can transfer files to and from a virtual data storage area accessible by the guest by manual operator action. No other transfer of data except these user initiated actions is permitted.

Protease resistant mutants of stromal cell derived factor-1 in the repair of tissue damage

The present invention is directed stromal cell derived factor-1 peptides that have been mutated to make them resistant to digestion by the proteases dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV) and matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) but which maintain the ability of native SDF-1 to attract T cells. The mutants may be attached to membranes formed by self-assembling peptides and then implanted at sites of tissue damage to help promote repair.

High security, dual-mode padlock construction

By employing a deadbolt construction for virtually eliminating the ability of the shackle to be removed from the housing by the application of excessive force, an effective, easily produced, padlock is achieved which also incorporates two separate and independent locking systems formed in a single padlock. In the present invention, a single housing and a single shackle assembly are employed and are constructed for enabling the shackle to be released from locked engagement with the housing either a rotatable dial combination construction or a key activated tumbler construction. Furthermore, the rotatable combination defining dials, which controls the release of the shackle using the preset combination, are coaxially aligned, peripherally surrounding the key controlled tumbler / cylinder. As a result, a compact construction is realized, as well as an efficient and effective release construction which is shared by both the combination controlled section as well as the key controlled section.

High security combination padlock with locking bar

By forming a combination padlock from heavy duty metal throughout with an enlarged, heavy duty locking bar or shackle being employed having a tamper-proof holding cavity for the terminating, locking end of the locking bar, an effective, easily produced, high security padlock is achieved which employs a combination system for fully operating the padlock. In addition, the combination padlock of the present invention incorporates tumbler or clutch wheel constructions which cooperate with the rotating dials to virtually eliminate any possibility that an unauthorized person would be capable of gaining access to the padlock by known combination lock picking techniques by forming each tumbler or clutch wheel with a plurality of radially extending fins formed thereon, with each of the fins being arcuately spaced from the adjacent fin in a non-symmetrical pattern. Furthermore, the padlock of the present invention incorporates a unique combination setting and re-setting assembly which employs a slider shaft incorporating a radially extending post, which must pass through a key-hold slot formed in the body or housing of the padlock for activating the combination setting or re-setting mode, and cooperates with a set screw member threadedly engaged with the housing or body of the padlock which controls the axial movement of the shaft.

System and Method for Preventing IP Spoofing and Facilitating Parsing of Private Data Areas in System Area Network Connection Requests

A system and method for preventing IP spoofing and facilitating parsing of private data areas in system and network connection requests are provided. With the system and method, an identifier, such as the high order bit of a Q_Key, is utilized to determine if a communication connection request originates with a privileged process. A second identifier is used to specify whether a private data area of a communication connection request utilizes predefined fields of a predefined structure or format. Only when the first identifier specifies that the request originates from a privileged process is the processing of the request permitted to be performed. Based on the setting of the second identifier, specific information is retrieved from the predefined fields of the private data area for use in establishing the requested communication connection.

Spray gun having indexing air cap with quick release retaining ring

Interlocking tabs are provided on the backside of a spray gun air cap to mate with corresponding slots in the barrel of the gun. The tabs and slots are spaced at 90° (or other spacing if desired) to confine the air cap to vertical or horizontal orientations. The barrel and retaining ring are provided with a custom coarse thread which both allows quicker removal and replacement of the air cap as well as substantially eliminating the ability to cross-thread the air cap on the barrel.

Projection-receiving surface that functions in ambient light

The present invention is a broadband projection-receiving surface that can function as a projection screen. This surface can, even in strong ambient light, provide high gain, prevent glare and speckle, provide high contrast, preserve of gray-scale linearity, provide a uniformity of brightness, provide rapid angular cut-off, preserve polarization, and provide the ability to function over a large spectral range. These achievements result from a production method that utilizes purposeful partitioning of the material processes used in sub-wavelength morphology (finish) from the processes used to make super-wavelength morphology (figure).

System and Method for Online Self-Badging

A computer-implemented method for self-registration by an attendee for an event, wherein the attendee accesses via the internet a log-in screen for the event organizer and inputs personal information required for that event. The event organizer provides to the attendee via the internet registration and payment information, and the attendee registers and pays fees for the event. Following confirmation of receipt of payment and registration, the attendee generates a badge electronically. The event organizer generates a document containing the badge; the attendee prints the document, cuts the badge from it and takes the pre-printed badge to the event. The event organizer verifies the badge and mates it with an event-specific badge holder that coordinates with the badge to serve as a credential valid for use at the event.
